***The Official HP TouchPad Thread***

anyone know where to get a spare charger?

needs be a 5V 2A (10W) jobbie....I'm a little suspiocious about the quality of these:http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/IPAD-10W-...Accessories&hash=item4cf84b74b1#ht_3059wt_905

staples seem to have stock of the International Adapter Kit just now

http://www.staples.co.uk/technology...d-international-travel-power-adapter-kit?r=se

includes the UK, EU, US, AU adapters iirc.

I've got chargers coming out my ears now - didn't realise the Touchstone came with all the international options when I ordered it and the international kit at the same time :|

Oh right. I've never used mine without a wifi connection. Give me a second and I'll have a try.

Egg on my face. Turns out that you do need a wifi connection. My mistake.

Does the beta work offline ?

No, didn't think of that! Just checked and it won't let me listen to the wonderful tones of the greatest fatty to ever live, Meatloaf, without a wifi connection.

No doubt this has been asked, but any unofficial cases/stands? I don't want to pay for an official one.

where can you get the beta from? The one in the prepare catalogue doesn't work, it tries to put the video the wrong way and stretched and if I rotate it it goes all funny with RGB lines

how long are we expecting until android gets on this device? iirc hp said 2 weeks but i wondered as there was a bounty now it might speed up. don't worry i do appreciate the sale has only been on a week now so it's still early but just thought someone might have an idea on time scale.

Android is already on the touchpad. It was on it before webOS. It's getting it available for the masses that's the problem.

The cm7 team is still looking for devs to port cm7 over to the touchpad. So unless something pops out of the blue, I'd say there is a while yet.

Used to be able to get it in kalemsoft.com/betas. However it seems that it's been removed...

Do you want me to email you it? Send me a message in trust if you do.

The bounty might slow it down. Teams/persons not willing to share for fear of losing out on the bounty. There is talk at XDA of removing it.

Yeah I was happy with the standard beta player, but I'm on a flight in a few days and want to use the Touchpad for some films. Just glad I noticed you need a network connection before I took off, that would have been annoying. ;)

Aye, I'm considering paying for the full version (it is only 5 dollars...) now that I know that. For now though, the Beta will do.

Looks like we have some good starts:

Hey Internet/RootzWiki--

Here is some (older) touchpad progress from Friday. The Cyanogenmod team wanted to share it with the public as a blatant publicity stunt to bring attention to our need for a few more touchpads (for developers currently working without them).

As you can see from this quick demo, we've been working hard and have made progress. Since this video was created last week, the build has been more "tabletized" (tablet tweaks added, etc.), lvm support has been added, and 2d hardware acceleration should appear very soon.

The touchscreen driver issue is now the focus of our attention.

Our ultimate vision is to create a *multiboot* solution where the end user will be able to boot into WebOS, Cyanogenmod, and/or other OSes. This appears to be very possible, and we have discussed several potential implementations with our new friends in the WebOS development community to make it easy for an end-user to set up.

For the moment though, we need about 4 tablets, as we have talented and experienced developers who cannot contribute effectively due to a lack of hardware. If you have an extra touchpad and are willing to help the cause, please let us know in the comments below.

A BIG CAVEAT-- PLEASE DO NOT ASK FOR ETAS. For the uninitiated, this is the #1 rule for Cyanogenmod. It will certainly be a long while before our goals become reality. Our goals incidentally are not connected with any bounty-- we are motivated to do it right, not do it fast.

And now the obligatory shout outs-- Thanks to rootzwiki and all the devs and everyone else who are collaborating and contributing to this project. You know who you are, you.

The CM team

PS- Yes, this is gingerbread (Android 2.3.5). Everything you see, except for bootie the bootloader (a great kid's show btw), was compiled from source.

will the touchstone still work with android on it or does it need webOS for some resson, I'm guessing its hardware based so it won't matter?

It'll work with either id imagine, personally im waiting for a dual boot option.

For those after a cheap stand, poundland have one for a quid that's pretty decent.

Along with a cheap neoprene ipad case that fits well.

Well apparently last pass is working on a webos version, though the more folk badger them the higher on the to do list it becomes.

Had a play with honeycomb today, and it's nice dunno if id take it over web os, i might do.

Or just wait for ics we shall see.

Finally sat down with my TouchPad and followed Precentral's guide to Improving the TP. Does seem faster in general but I have a question for you guys.

Does your flash playback work ok? I mean in full screen or windowed, can you play 1080p full screen with no stuttering?

I tried and 1080p in window, or page view stuttered and in full screen it ever so slightly stuttered but not far off ok. Trying iPlayer now but wanted to see what you guys experience was.

Even though I have a touchstone waiting here, I am going to lasercut myself a stand :D. If I get the design perfected, I would send one out as a freebie to see what they think of the design. Then I would be selling them, with a 50% discount for OcUK members. I will make a thread at the appropriate time to give one away.

Cool, how much would you sell them for?
