I've got an ipk of a kalemsoft player, but don't know how to install it!if I try and run it from the browser after downloading it it comes up with a mime type error

The preware application lets you load ipk files. Various guides exist to do this (fairly straightforward imo) I used this one: http://forums.precentral.net/hp-touchpad/293028-new-touchpad-heres-your-get-started-guide.html

Thing is though, it actually helped me play iPlayer, and it gets TVCatchup to load, albeit poorly.

Try the mobile version of TVCatchup, that works perfect for me.

Yup, can now create and edit docs and spreadsheets. It's very basic still and slow compared to the iOS version, but at least it works.

The stand at poundland was posted a few days ago on HUKD and someone posted that it doesn't stay upright well and the hinge is very weak. Only a quid I guess but for something that might only last week...meh.

The case though sounds a good idea.

had not really thought of that, as i don't use the card button much and just swipe up from the bezel, having said that, any recommendations on another case?

I'll let you know how it goes when it arrives, but ipad and TP are very similar dimensions, so should fit ok.

I bought one from eBay that is really similar but all leather.
It seems pretty good to me tbh. Bit chunky but I like that, folds flat and also has grooves so that it can be used as a stand!!

Looks fantastic for £4 but you need to place the device with speakers facing downwards (button on right) because flash video will only play in that orientation.

So speakers will be inside that lower slot and your power button may be concealed behind the corner bracket, it might turn it on/off if it moves about a bit.

Difficult to tell if the power button will clear the bracket or not.

I found another 2 today. Argos and currys.
Thats 4 of them and 3 touchstones. Greebo gets them as he kindly got me a 32gb touchpad . There are still the odd ones in Argos and currys, go into your local store, ask them if there are any stock of anything, and they can tell you what shops have them, and reserve them for you!

People using the official case how do you cope with the lid? I played with my dads one yesterday and just didn't get on with it at all. The lid caused such a pain, if you Velcro it you end up with a lip that makes it harder to hold and if you don't it slides all over the place!

for those having trouble with the HD streams have you enabled the preware patch to remove the bandwidth limit?

Edit: just tried iPlayer HD on mine and it plays fine in full screen.

EDIT 2: just tried YouTube 1080p on mine and it is a little nursery, 720p plays perfectly though but as already said why are you playing 1080p on a less than 720p screen anyway!

FAO official HP Touchcase owners - Have you guys got a problem with stability whilst it's standing upright? Might seems to rocking, as if the bottom is slightly warped.

My fears are if I take it back to CPW, they won't be able to replace it due to stock?

Also, is there any way to test ad block - I don't think it's working for me.

That £8 case - it does look like the power button will be touching the corner holder bits, but interested to find out how it really is.
