***The Official HP TouchPad Thread***

It's a risk, there are a number of threads on the net with users complaining that their TP has image retention after extended exhibition mode use. Some have got rid of it after a bit of pixel cycling others have had to rma.

Take what you want from it. I still use mine as a clock, I just don't leave it on when nobody is around.

my targus case arrived from amazon today - nice case and tight squeeze, but seems to be ok.
The speakers are covered, but can still hear them fine.
The power and volume buttons are part hidden, but still very usable.
The only downside is the weight, but then my TP does feel very secure and safe.

I'll have a play with a soldering iron later to see if I can free up the speakers, but it's not really necessary.

Which seller did you buy it from?

Does it look like this? Because the blue looks slightly different than the one on amazon.

Anyone know if it is possible to do pass through internet on the touchpad? I.e. use the usb port connected to a pc to use it's internet connection (rather than wifi)...

Won't the constant trickle charging damage battery life too?
The battery will age either way but assuming the touchpad has good float charging capabilities then as long as you occasionally use the touchpad properly every now and then then it shouldn't be much of a problem.

I've found with laptops and phones/PDAs that by the time the battery life starts to have a noticeable impact the device is at the end of it's usable life. (2-3 years) However I am an all or nothing person so I don't speak for everyone and I still use my 5g 30gb iPod. :p:D

Random symbols = pet hate. I had the same problem trying to work out which of the symbols was reply to an email. The OS needs an option to change symbols to text. Shouldn't need to have to look at a manual to find out how to do stuff.

Actually, there are various reports of screen burn on some of the newer phones out, so why would this be any different? Does screen burn just mean the screen is faulty or something then?

IPS screens or them things samsung use Amoled or whatever it is?

Annoyances for me so far, any workarounds?

- No home page in browser
- No storing of passwords in the browser
- Rubbish bookmark icons (image from target page) with no way to customise them
- No way to organise bookmarks

- No way to switch between Facebook accounts in the Facebook app

Yes, that's the same, but the blue is more vivid. I haven't bothered doing any mods in the end as i've not needed to. The volume and power are slightly impeded, but still easily usable, and the speakers being hidden doesn't seem to be a problem.

I just got one, but the corner brackets are not the same as shown above, they are smaller (and symmetrical, not elongated) so the corner brackets stick up at a 45 degree angle and don't really hold the top of the TP.

They are similar to the ones shown in this image: http://imagedirectory.targus.com/im/?filename=THZ07202US-50_USE.tif&width=800&height=800 (this is the Touchpad version, that I can't find in the UK) If you look at the top right corner, even in that official image it sticks up at an angle, but mine is much worse.

It seems there's a few versions of this case floating around
