Another option for this:

£200 cashback for ALL 12 month SIM Only £25+ tariffs From £8.33 after Quidco cashback for 1200 mins / unlimited texts!

http://www.quidco.com/o2

So £8.33 * 12 = £100

+ HTC Desire sim Free £390

= £490 + only 12 months.

thats what I have just done.

Also phone is unbranded and unlocked = resell higher.

That's equivalent to £40/month though

i'm thinking about getting a htc desire but i'm on o2. Bit worried about going to tmobile cos i've heard coverage isn't as good.

also, if i just go into the tmobile shop / carphone warehouse on monday and give my current phone number etc can they arrange it all so that i keep my number, or do i myself actually need to contact o2 and sort that bit out?

I've just switched from O2 to T-Mobile for the Desire, and in order to get the PAC code (needed to keep your number when switching networks) you do have to call O2 up. When I did the guy I spoke to was very helpful and it only took a couple of minutes.

Once you have your phone, SIM card and T-Mobile phone number you have to call them and tell them your PAC code/phone number you want to bring over, again that only takes a few minutes.

If you want to check what T-Mobile coverage is like in your area you can check out their maps here:

thank you - a very helpful post. So essentially i could go and get a desire today (are they actually in stock anywhere or do i need to wait until monday?) - then phone up o2 to get my pac code, then phone up t-mobile to change numbers?

so i'll still get allocated a new number when i get the phone, but i need to change it by telling them my pac code, right? And this can't be done in store (telling them my code). Thanks again.

T-Mobile can do it if you have a PAC ready when you go to take out the contract, or can do it in store after you take out the contract. It may actually better getting it online if you're worried about signal - you get a 7 day long distance selling protection if the coverage isn't up to scratch allowing you, in theory, to cancel the contract. Might want to check the T&C first on that one though first :)

I just can't believe how quick and snappy it is. Opening applications, adding widgets etc. One of these phones that you could spend the whole day customising it! Love it.

Man this phone is fast coming from the Milestone the difference is day and night, really impressed and the colours from the led screen really stand out.
Anyone interested you can use the nexus style gallery with this phone just download it and install.

nice one, thanks.

so does anyone know if this phone is likely to be in stock (in stores) on monday? (around central london)

Stop it!

I spoke to Tmobile in Leamington today and they said either Tuesday delivery or Thursday. I shall phone my mate who works at CPW Monday as well to see if he knows if they are in stock yet.

God reading that Tech Radar review has made me want this phone so much!

bit peeved at that camera quality. it seems the nexus one has better camera?

If you read the Tech Radar review, it says that the camera has added functions to alter the balance, contrast and other photo enhancing stuff. Also, I tend to use photoshop to change a photo's colouration.

Im more bothered about noise levels and blurrines in the photos. Its nice to see them sharp.

Posting from ny desire.
I can safely say, after messing around with it all day, that its awesome. The screen is so responsive and a pleasure to use. As this is my first touch screen phone, the typing is surprisingly easy and enjoyable.
The other thing I love is the customization, ill probably be doing stuff to it all day :d
