*** The Official HTC Desire (Bravo) Thread! ***

If you ask now for the PAC, they will at your request immediately bill any remaining line rental (so your remaining month), then as long as you use the PAC code before a new month (out of your contract) starts then you will only be charged for any call charges etc. you have made.

It works out the same as waiting since you will pay the same. If you wait till the end of the contract then it is likely you will be paying a week or so extra out of your contract (pro-rata).

great, thanks for the info.

I hope they've got some left! I just placed an order for one with the 24month £15 tariff. I was going to go the simplicity route but I think this is a better deal in the long run + I can't believe that I could get 2 hours free calls to a mobile in Canada! That's awesome for me!

Another bonus as Quidco is showing £40 for me too :) Now to track down some insurance since most of my work is coaching kayaking!

EDIT
I don't know if this matters to anyone but whilst searching around for info I read that t-mobile won't let you downgrade your tariff until the final month of your contract.

what are most people getting? 18 or 24 month contracts?

I decided to get the £15 18 Month contract over the 24 Month contract because you are only paying £30 more overall but get to end your contract 6 Months earlier hopefully in time for a English Version of the HTC Evo to come out ;)

From what i've read in this weeks Computer Weekly we should be getting 4G/WiMax sometime this year

I went for 24 because I wanted 300mins/txts whilst only paying £15 a month. To get the same minutes on an 18month contract actually worked out to cost the same in total as the 24 monther but you lost out on 6months usage. At the end of the day if I want to upgrade after 18months I can just buy out the remainder of the contract and I shouldn't be any worse off.

How necessary does everyone think a case is for one of these? I've been looking around for one briefly but there doesn't seem to be much about yet...

Im popping to a shop down the road from work in Notts on Monday so hopefully they will have some - cos its time to upgrade for a k800i!!!

Glad i didnt get a hero / magic now!

I reckon a case is a must with a screen as nice as the desires.

Yeah it's a shame it doesn't come with a pouch like the Nexus. Need to find one that looks similar.

Has anyone started to compile an app list yet?

So far best I've found are

Advanced Task Killer - You'll be suprised how many apps are running in the background!

3D Compass - Augmented Reality Compass

Tower Defence - Really addictive game

How come Orange don't list them on their website, yet if you go to Mobiles.co.uk they have Orange contracts listed for the Desire??

That's because they build the contracts themselves. Mobiles.co.uk will be supplying the phone and you get to pick whichever contract you wish. They will subsidise the phone depending on how much commission they get for whichever contract you pick.

Would also like to know as I've just setup a Eclipse dev enviroment to write my own apps!

thanks for the advise. Dont suppose you know if o2 will give out my PAC (i think its that) code so i can take my number to t-mobile. I cant technically cancel with o2 for another month yet...

Remember o2 are getting the Desire at the end of april which might tie in with your contract expiring and save you the hassle of messing around with PAC codes etc.

i did think about that but T-mobiles deal is quite good, the 24x£15 (£129 for phone). Plus o2 3G at home and at work is on 1 bar at the best of times.

This is a great phone i have a Milestone and this now and the difference is big, the Milestone is a nice phone but its just too slow this thing is so fast and as smooth as butter.
