Erm, anyone else getting obscene images on this Desire review by GSMArena?
Just thought I'd read it again now the phones coming this week and it looks like its been hacked? Or my PC has some malware!

So am I reading it right that the Desire now won't be getting Android 2.2 till October?
Testing the official HTC Froyo for Desire next week. So it should be available for OTA within the next 2 months
Not to sound ungrateful but that's a pathetically bad response time from HTC - they need to pull finger - you should tell someone... tell them I said so and that I am displeased.
Well as a Desire user I dont exactly appreciate waiting myself - but it could be worse, imagine you still got 1.6 ( Sony Ericsson anyone?)
I know I was just being facetious. I'm not 100% about how this stuff works but I had hoped that the transfer from 1.6 to Froyo was going to be somewhat less lengthy than the Hero update time. On the flip side this update is as much a maintenance of their flagship phone in Europe as it is a forward thinking toward newer Froyo based hardware - they do need to get it right.
So I had some crap luck a couple of weeks ago when I stood on my Desire. I've finally got it back and it seems to have Android 2.1 installed - does anyone else have this?

ah - for some reason I though it was still 1.6 on the desire.
LOL - maybe it's because I've been back using a G1 all this time and it looks so vastly different. I just got a bit weirded out by some of the icons and stuff.
Yeah she was pretty rotten on the G1 - I'm glad to have the Desire back - it's such a vastly better phone.
Well I'm on OpenDesire again now and I'm sticking with it as the browser features Sense has are now in it too and then there's loads more features too
Are there any other reasons why or is it just a preference thing. I've only just Rooted mine and have Leedroid 1.8c installed with a few other mods for shts n' giggles. Is there an advantage to the stock Froyo ROMs?
From what I understand they have changed the Bootloader so none of the current rooting methods work...
Heh - just installed Gingerbread on my desire - was a really stripped down build with no market or optimisation. slow as a wet week - looks kinda cool but rolled back to LeeDroid after about 30 mins.
Each to their own. I love Sense and use the LeeDroid ROM which is rock solid and very quick... IMO one of the best out there.

Of course, £2 a month for insurance works out so much more than buying a new phone
I find this thread odd now. Since RC7 Oxygen has just died, we keep getting promises of the release from Google but nothing yet (?). What used to be a thread which would pickup 4 pages of posts in a day with new ROMs and stuff is now dying
£2/ Month sounds pretty good - T-Mobile charge £15 a month and on a 24 Month contract that outweighs the value of the handset.

Regarding Oxygen, the guy is waiting for the next OTA from Google before proceeding with further updates.
The Music app does not have an 'exit' button. And really no app should need one. So long as it is written correctly then it will not consume resources when not in use... however a Task Killer can be of use sometimes
Also I recommend PowerAMP for playing music... free trial available, about £4 to buy.
PowerAMP is properly epic - best app on the market IMO.
