*** The Official HTC Desire (Bravo) Thread! ***

Would anyone be so kind as to post a simple neat gide for flashing a different rom then?

The guide on XDA seems to have conflicting/old information.

Is it basically.....

Root
Get ROM Manager + ROM of choice
Use ROM Manager to flash it

I see lots of blabbing about NANDROID, ClockworkMOD recovery and fake-flash but have no idea where they fit in? I'm not fussed about keeping apps etc. for the new rom, and I guess all my contacts will be grabbed from google once I sign in?

Whats the best ROM that still has HTC Sense? I'd like the new fancy 3d gallery and chrome2phone etc. from 2.2.

Help?

part of rom manager. i piosted on xda a week or so to doublecheck that a nandroid backup is the same as one you do in rom manager. just in case i ever need to restore when i can't get back into android.

basically, yes. i install clockwork mod (top option in rom man iirc), choose rom, tick box to backup current, and 2nd to wipe data - unless you want to upgrade, choose to reboot then never touch the thing until it's done.

Is there any way for me to try out the multitouch keyboard ?

Running OD 3.4.2 at the minute. I have the .apk file, should I just install it ?

you may need to delete the current keyboard via ADB from /system/app before it will let you install the multitouch.

if this is the case it will just fail the install when you try installing the .apk

Well according to the list i get after ADB'ing into system/app

Latin_IME.apk is present but, No HTC_IME.apk !!

I don't see any difference in the keyboard ?

First time using ADB, Removed Twitter and Bookface and ChromeToPhone :)

the multi touch keyboard from opendesire (cant remember the version it was in) is here --> http://dl.dropbox.com/u/7084505/LatinIME.apk

multitouch keyboard should be grey/white instead of the black android one

yeah i remove facebook, twitter, sim toolkit and google maps (reinstall from market) everytime i install a new rom (made a batch file as i do it so much, haha)

I notice that the original LatinIME is nearly 3Mb, The multitouch .apk is only 980kb.

Ah well, Might be in a future release !

Cheers anyway man, Something new learned, I might look into a batch file too as i don't use any of those programs.

Hi dudes I'm having a few issues and wondered if you might be able to help out.

I'm really not getting along with the default keyboard, what's the best way to go currently?. I'm using a standard unbranded desire running 2.09.405.8.
A decent alternative to handcent would be great too, if just to try out.

Edit, original problem solved :). For the benefit of anyone who has a similar problem in the future. I couldn't end an alarm ringing, because I had dual sms notifications (one from the standard app, and one from Handcent, due to my not turning notifications off in the standard sms app, and if I were to have a txt in the middle of the night, and the alarm woke me in the morning, the sms notifications on the screen appeared atop the alarm 'snooze/dismiss' options, rendering the alarm options un-selectable). I was having to reboot my phone to turn off the alarm.

Had my first lockup this morning :o

Phone was on charge, alarm was set to go off at 5:30am for work, woke up at 6:30 (lol) looked at my phone and it was stuck on the lockscreen (Could turn screen on and off but could not unlock the phone) and the time was 5:23 on the phone.

Never had anything like this happen before, has anyone else?

Pulled the battery and put it back in, and all has been fine

strange, that worked on a previous versoin on OD when i installed it.

anyway i found a black and a white multi-touch keyboard, test both on OD 3.4.2, they both work.

i signed the normal one so its flashable, black one was already signed.

Has anyone here bought anything from Gameloft? I bought Let's Golf today but when I click the link in the SMS it says "Sorry, your phone does not support this content". Worked out I was on wifi so changed over to mobile internet, but still getting the same message.

I've checked my APN settings and they seem to be correct (set to 3 and protocol is WAP2.0). Anyone managed to do this?
