*** The Official HTC Desire (Bravo) Thread! ***

It's actually very easy, did mine the other week. Don't forgot if you are putting on a custom hboot you don't need an ext partition.

Sorry just about to do it now, was busy. Right, i've burned the ISO from:

You need to burn the AlphaRev ISO http://alpharev.nl/alpharev.iso

Run it, and follow the instructions.

The CM7 hboot image is what you flash to your phone once you've s-off'd using the iso above

edit: Also, if you're going to be using CM7 hboot, I recommend getting rid of your SD-EXT (if you have one) and keeping your SD as fat32. Unless of course you need more than 287mb data that the CM7 hboot gives you

and put it in my DVD drive but it just comes up as a folder that burned to the disk with ISOLINUX, ALPHA.GZ and BZIMAGE files on it. :/

All is well! AlphaRev installed, i'm guessing now I can try all the ROM's that i've missed out on while S-ON was active. Is there anything as light weight as Cyanogen Mod 7 but with the HD camera enabled? Also when I flash a new ROM, will it get rid of this horribly tacky 'Why So Serious?' splash screen?

no you have to flash a stock (if you want stock htc) splash screen if you want rid of the alpharev one instructions are at the bottom of the page with a link to the splash screen

Now i'm having problems flashing these new ROM's onto it. It's rooted and S-OFF, tried to install Insert Coin last night which seems to install but when it boots all I get is the background/wallpaper with bubbles and the small black bar at the top with the time and signal. The only way I can turn it off is to pull the battery. I've also tried updating Clockwork/CWM-AlphaRev Recovery but the files don't show up in SD card bit where ROM's are. The version I have is 2.5.1.8 AlphaRev. Help!

Might help if you detail what you've done up until now.

I.e. what AlphaRev did you use?, have you changed the HBOOT (needed for some ROMs) etc

J

did you do a full wipe before loading the new rom?

I should i only have limited knowledge on the subject, so may well suggest the obvious :-)

Hi mate sorry for the late reply, been out playing golf all day! :p

How do I check if I have HBOOT installed or what version it is? Phone is charging at the moment so i'll check later but basically like I said, the ROM's install but not properly and all I get is the background wallpapers at the bar with signal strength/time at the top.

Check hboot by turning off the phone. Hold volume down and power. An information screen will show Hboot version on the second line

To be honest looks like Insertcoin is a pain to flash with the ext partitions and stuff.

Here's what i would do (and have) download Android Flasher from xda, load the Oxygenr2 HBOOT from AlphaRev and then flash the 2.1.6 version of Oxygen works great for me, as i didn't like the sense look and battery life is good.

But as i said I only have limited knowledge and am not responsible if you brick your phone.

James

*EDIT*

I've had a few problems with the new version of Android Flasher so here is a link to the 1.6.1 version which i use

Followed all the steps, installed all the necessary stuff but the Android Flasher just stops working as soon as I hit 'Begin' to flash HBOOT to the one you told me to download.

Wish I didn't start this to be honest, all I want is the HD camera to work but why do I have to go through this mess of updating/flashing 'HBOOT' and all the other crap? On my old San Fran it was a case of flashing ROM's and that's it. :(

In what way does it stop working? Try the newer version maybe?

If you dont want to go any further then put the last rom back on?

Yeah just put on Oxygen 2.1.6 as it has the HD camera enabled and it's a super light weight ROM like Cyanogen Mod.

Thanks for all your help guys.

Actually i don't think it has, but it's not that important is it? the video quality it has is suited to the desire though.

Glad it's working
