Hmm cant seem to get the voice to text to work:confused:...followed the instructions on the website that steve and khan linked to but even after a reboot when i bring up my keyboard it doesnt have the voice icon at the bottom left corner....

If you hold the bottom left button and choose input method can you choose the updated keyboard?

Spawn - I had problems but resolved it like so:

1. Go to compose a new text.
2. Press and hold the recipient window at the top
3. Select choose input method
4. Select the HTC IME thingy
5. Wait a few secs for keyboard to change
6. Job Done

It appears that you need to activate it seperately again from the SEARCH program but once its done it stays on...

TBH its more of a gimmick. Much easier to type a message TBH.

Another tip: Once you have copied the apk files over and installed them, you can delete the files to save SD card space and the apps still work.

Just installed:

Voice Search
Voice to Text
Nexus Gallery

Most likely delete the voice things if I need room (only 85MB left on phone LOL)

Nexus Gallery is cool. If you geotag your pics it puts location details on the album (if all photos are in same area) and lets you click a link to go to maps and view where that particular pic was taken :D

Also the GUI is much cooler than HTC one... Just dont press the camera button in the corner or it crashes... Oh, and dont be worried if its slow to begin with. It seems to load the photos into thumbs as you go into each album but if you come out and go back in again then its quick :)

sd cards

hi all..loving the phone.. if i buy a 16gb sd card can i just switch it over or are there any settings on the 4gb installed?? if so how do i get round that please?
i know its been asked somewhere i guess but i searched the threads and couldn't find it..

many thanks

Android stores app data on the SD such as camera pics, maps cache, navigation mapping, audio, video etc. You can simply copy the entire contents from the root of the drive to the new card (once formatted to FAT32).

Better to copy SD > PC then PC > SD to avoid possible integrity errors.

The card should be formatted already but if it isn't when you put it in the PC Windows will ask for it to be formatted, easier to do it via the phone though really as you don't need to do anything other than insert and click OK.

I asked the same question regarding replacing the current card with a new one and didn't get such a detailed reply, had to ask several times before I got a reply saying copy everything onto the new card(or words to that effect) :(

have ordered a 16gb sandisk class2 for £32.99, should have it today(friday). the city-link tracking says planned delivery was 15th between 7.30am - 5.30pm but it didn't turn up, tracking history still not showing it having reached the delivery depot(last update was on the 14th at 7.39pm saying it's on it's way to the delivery depot)

I ended up taking the risk on a desktop sync/charge cradle off ebay(Item number: 360252781792), thought I'll try it and if it workd order another(so 1 on my side table to use as charger/desk clock and 1 by my pc for syncing) but only 2 left(well 1 now that I've ordered). tempted to buy the last one as well but don't want to end up with 2 non-working cradles, will just have to keep an eye out to see if the guy gets more at a later date or get some other one(maybe the official one if it ever gets released).

waiting for the case I ordered from the same guy I've ordered the cradle from, only ordered wednesday night so he'd have posted yesterday(as it's past midnight, thursdays becomes yesterday) or will be posting today either way will get it early next week.

have also ordered screen protectors(official ones), just waiting on them. only thing not ordered yet is a car charger, trying to decide between a cheap one or the official one for £9.75(cheapest I've seen, only problem being the pic is for the miniusb model not the microusb).

ontop of the £399.99 for the phone, have spent ~£65 on accessories for it. don't think the £4.99 for the screen protectors have been taken as it's on pre-order, also got the car charger to come so that be £75-£80 in total. wish I'd known about the £350 payg from mpd, but then I got the phone on 30th march(not sure if all those that ordered the t-mob payg from mpd have got them yet).

The thread moves fast, calm down ;)

Copying the root directories and files over to your new blank card isn't so detailed is it?

I never actually saw your post!

Hmm A class 2 is not a card I'd have bought, class 6, you get faster speeds wit those cards and much better for high end devices and when puling large amounts of data off the card or writing to it (satnav maps for example or when recording).

Will be more useful especially when the HD update comes out for the desire.

Oh and of course transferring from card to PC and so on.

I've also realised that my Logitech Performance MX mouse is micro USB charging and I have a spare Performance MX so also have a spare USB cable and UK plug socket USB block so I could keep that in the car for when I'm away from home and not need to buy a new cable and plug \m/

I would have liked a faster card but those where £55+, as long as the delay in accessing hte card isn't too noticable it should be fine. as for transfering from pc to card(and vice-versa), I can wait a few mins extra :)

if the delay really does become unbearable in the future, can always get a faster one once the prices come down.

hey Fowler002..
