*** The official HTC One S thread ***

Nope, just a small update. Jelly bean android version will be 4.1.

Apparently we should be getting that update by the end of the year but with the way things are going, I doubt it.

Hi Guys,

In other versions of ICS that are of the none HTC Sense flavour, I have been able to go into the gallery app, select a picasa web album, choose a photo and then select that as my wallpaper. For some reason on the S I can't do this! Am I being really stupid or is there no option to set your wallpaper from this album?!?

I'm tempted to just stick a custom rom on this as HTC are pretty poor in getting the updates out.

Got some chips from dropping the phone while drunk and the fact HTC are woeful in the repair department leads me to think I'll never send it in for repair anyway.

Same, I definitely won't be returning my phone to their repair centre after reading ravsters experience and many others, if my battery or screen goes I'll just buy the parts and do it myself. Look easy enough going by that video that Sarge posted.

Badly want this update, as a lot of people have said this update is very good and also might fix one of my issues, not notifying me about emails instantly via gmail (also noticed it with whatsapp since I started using it a fair bit more lately)

Wish the rooting/flashing process was as easy as it is on Samsung's phones.

Heres another one for you :

My friend sent his Desire S away as the thing kept going into headset mode.

They fixed this problem, then contacted him with a bill for a front fascia AND the return postage of the phone.

He should have argued it as the fault meant they had to return the phone anyway and what if he didn't mind the scratch on the side of it?! The very least should have been free delivery.

Battery life still sucking for me, barely getting 3 hours on screen time now, had a look at better battery stats and nothing is much different to the previous screens although I can't see kernel wakelocks, says "no reference since unplugged set yet"

Really have no idea what it is as I haven't installed any new apps since the drain started, usage is less than usual and especially when for the majority of on screen time has been when I have had the brightness set to 0%.......

Definitely going to factory reset soon, try and do it after the update though. Can't see what is causing the problem as I have good wifi strength, good signal strength etc.

Hmm, I came across this here, click on the menu and then "more"> "raw kernel wakelocks" and this process is taking a lot of battery up!

Had a google around but only a few links came back and it appears that something is stopping the mobile from entering deep sleep, however, my mobile is entering deep sleep just fine according to CPU spy

it seems that my phone is not entering DEEP SLEEP and i am noticing a battery drain. I tried CPUSPY and it tells me that my phone is sitting at 384 MHz all the time. BetterBatteryStats show a process called pm8921_eoc taking on most of the time.

Does anyone else notices this?

No.. you must have some process keeping it awake. It should show up in the battery stats..

Any ideas?

Sorry Nexus but I just can't see a problem with your battery stats - it's sleeping just fine and there are no suspicious wakelocks I can see. With 1d18hrs battery time, a dodgy wakelock would have been a good few hrs long in my experience.

As seen here there are no wakelocks:

i.e. screen is on when the phone is awake.

Find out what that process is relating to and kill it with shoes and fire?

Problem is I have no idea what the process is :(

When/if I find out what it is, it will be nuked from orbit! :p

Ok thanks for looking into it :)

Will just have to factory reset and if not order a new battery. Hurry up update!

Are you sure it's not just leaving the screen brightness on higher than usual? I always get 2-3 hours instead of 4-5 with auto brightness.

Yesterday :p

That feel when someone starts bragging about their iphone 5 so you set your homescreen to 8x6 and waste 5 minutes of your life doing this just to send it to them :o :D

I do want to have a play with one though......
