*** The official HTC One S thread ***

Just had a weird problem there, the capacitive buttons wouldn't respond at all :/ well they did respond but it was hit and miss, worked like 5% of the 4 minutes I was trying them, thankfully a power of and on fixed the problem, hopefully it won't happen again........

Happened to me a few times, restart always fixes it.

had my 1st major issue with my one s this weekend; was trying to connect to the wifi at a friends' house when the phone rebooted, then got stuck in a bootloop... had to do a factory reset losing all of my pictures/music/game saves/everything else

was not happy!

Not good! Very unlucky :(

That is why you should be backing everything up daily :p

BTW, how could you do a factory reset when the phone is boot looping? Do you mean just the hard reset by holding the power button down for 10 secs.

iirc it was holding down the vol down button during the whole boot process until it restarted, then it stuck me in hboot.

what should i use for backups aside from uploading my pictures to dropbox? i was always under the assumption than for a full backup you had to be rooted?

cheers nexus, i'll have a look at that and hopefully avoid this in future :p

only reason i've never bothered with anything like that as this phone has been absolutely solid for me, but it seems the crashing-while-connecting-to-wifi bug is quite widespread

No problem :)

Thankfully I haven't had that problem and hopefully I will never encounter it! :p

And yup, the phone is extremely stable, amazing that I haven't had to restart it at all for any problems like memory leaks or other problems apart from like 2 or 3 times, the last problem was where the capacitive buttons wouldn't respond.

i need a stop gap phone for a bit

everyone still happy with this phone?

i really like the form factor

Yup still loving it :)

By the looks of things, Jellybean/sense V4+ is going to make the phone even better too!

- Improved browser, keyboard, dialer, SMS app, camera and gallery app etc. in terms of UI and features
- USB OTG support
- project butter, notification tray improvements
- possibly battery and audio improvements
- camera quality improved further

Hopefully we will be getting the update soon......

Also on o2.

Wonder if the mast that I am connected to went haywire for about 10 minutes or so :p

A lot of people seem to have that issue, they call it "Helicoptering" :p :D

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1679649

Last few days I've had this helicoptering issue constantly, can't use the phone really as it just goes back to the home screen.

Started doing it when on Wifi as well now and no amount of resetting fixes it.

Unless this is fixed pronto I think I'll be sending it back.

Brothers nagging me because I recommended him this phone back in June and the matt black coating is getting all chipped off. Does anyone have any experience with this, and is it possible to go through warranty with it?

Hmm, strange that it has only started happening lately

You on o2 as well?

Nope, I'm with Talk Mobile (Vodafone).

Does it mostly when on low phone signal (G) but started doing it on Wifi tonight. Looking at the thread on xda it seems the only workaround is to disable the home button.

Yup it is a widespread problem with the majority of black models:

http://www.technobuffalo.com/compan...te-fix-replacements-for-one-s-chipping-issue/

I have had mine since April and it is still in perfect condition apart from the USB port inside edges.

As mentioned in the link above, you could try to do a direct swap from where ever he got it or via HTC (if your bro has the S4 version, make sure you get that one back as there is also a S3 chipset version floating everywhere now), however, if your bro is the sort to place his phone in his pocket with keys, money etc. then it will chip again and in that case you would be better of getting the grey version instead or buying a case for it, I recommend the diztronic matte TPU case

Or you could "sarge" the phone :p

Check with vodafone to see if they are having problems with any masts near your location, could be similar to inq situation.

that looks pretty nice, might be tempted to do that as mine has chips all over the place.

I'll see if HTC will replace the cover before I do that though, been meaning to take some photos of the damage and see what HTC say.

Can anyone recommend a super hardcore case for the One S? I'm going skiing in January and if I can get a decent rugged case for it (including something over the screen, duh!) I'll be taking it out with me on the slopes.

I took my SLR with me last time but it never got a trip out onto the slopes, so I doubt I'll even take it this time around.
