*** The official HTC One S thread ***

Just been reading up on the X+ battery and it sounds like not only has the capacity been improved but the heat that it puts out has been reduced

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1981909

Is anyone else going to be exchanging the S battery for the X+ battery?

That guy is shocked at the difference and that is with a 300mAh difference, so going from the 1650mAh, it will be a difference of 450mAh, I think 7-8 hours on screen time will be the new record :p

id love to try it and do the silver back mod:)

Looked on the bay and the only battery i can find is this one.

100% Genuine HTC Battery BJ83100 (1800mAh) For HTC One X

I can't see any X+ batteries on ebay :( so chances are, they probably aren't genuine.

Will keep an eye on that seller :)

BTW, the battery isn't actually 2100mAh, it is 2040mAh.

Just imagine getting 8 hours on screen time as opposed to what we get now (about 5 hours)!

anyone heard any news on the jelly bean update or has HTC already given up supporting the One series?

The X UK devices have just started getting the update yesterday, so going by previous updates, the S should be getting it before the end of the year, sometime around the middle of December I would say, although I could be wrong and we might get it next week or maybe not even till January.......

ICS Browser + still. I like it, haven't really tried any others except chrome because i can't think of any features it lacks that i need.

Phone does feel smoother. Spare ram difference is HUGE. Sitting at a constant 250+ free instead of ~150-180. Looks like it might be more efficient at closing things after use? Not sure.

Browser seems to refresh less when multi tasking, unless it's just a bit of a fluke so far. If that is the case that is a massive improvement.

Played around with my homescreen, going to see how i get on having app shortcuts on it for once :o

Arrgh, just updated my phone to 4.0.4 or something (the latest one) and now it has a random EA Games app and two identical Amazon apps, that I can't delete. I've had enough! Can somepoint point me in the direction to a OneS4 rooting guide?

this is what I used then flashed it with CM10

Its also fairly straightforward to flash it back to stock and relock the bootloader for you warranty.

CM10 is head and shoulders above other roms in my opinion.

Can you explain what each step actually does? As I understand it, Step 1 unlocks my phone, step 2 creates a backup/recovery so I can go back to factory, and step 3 is the actual ROM I put on my phone (so I could put a different ROM on if I wanted to?)

You could just disable the apps in the settings >apps>click on app you want disabled.

Won't show anywhere on the phone at all and won't use any resources.

My battery life is **** again because i've gone back to having my phone sync often throughout the day and my wi-fi signal is poor so suspend_backoff is coming up all the time. Oh well. At least i know what to change when i actually need battery life :p

step 1 unlocks the bootloader to allow you to flash it
step 2 flashed a custom recovery, the recovery is the software that you use to flash roms/backup existing roms
step 3 roots the phone to allow you to flash roms etc

then after you've done all that you download whatever rom you want, save it to the internal sd card, reboot into the recovery (bit like rebooting into the BIOS), BACKUP YOUR CURRENT ROM before you flash anything

Then you wipe the cache and data partition and reset the phone all in the recovery (this gives you a blank page to flash from, remember you backed up your old rom) then flash the zip you've downloaded and the gapps (google apps, play store, gmail, maps etc) zip you downloaded and you're good to go.

If you get a boot loop or something on your first boot after flashing, don't worry, for starters you could go back into the recover and flash your backup or you could wipe the cache again that often fixes it etc etc.

Remember its nigh on impossible to brick a phone doing this.

my grade b arrived today and while it only has one tiny mark on the screen it has a few chips near the charger port and on the top of the phone

its the s4 so i really want to keep it

is it worth contacting htc and seeing if its still in warranty ?

or is it worth trying to rub it down ?

or i could just chuck it in a case and forget about it lol

anybody recommend a decent case with good access to all the buttons

The only cases that have access to all buttons are the hard plastic ones like the rock quicksand case, nillkin etc. however, they don't protect/cover the top and bottom edges.

The diztronic matte TPU case is the best if you want all round protection but without adding loads of thickness and feeling plus looking nice, however, the volume buttons are covered.

I did a review of it here.
