*** The official HTC One S thread ***

Try giving the bottom antenna cap a big squeeze or push (almost halves signal strength with it off/faulty) If that doesn't work just send it back for repair, it's part glued and can be annoying to put back.

Edit: nvm

Tried that last night and just now again, doesn't help :(

Checked on o2 site and no mention of any problems/maintenance for my area.

Will give it 1-2 more days to see if it sorts itself out, if it doesn't then factory reset and if that doesn't help then I'll try to get it sent of for repair, hopefully it won't be away for too long....

Calls haven't been coming through to my phone at all (have reception), just says the person you are trying to call is unavailable, please try again later.

Going to test text messages out now.

Charging phone up and going to do a factory reset and then try again, if not, then will contact htc and send the phone of :(

edit:

can't even make phone calls or send texts........

EDIT:

will htc charge?

Got my phone back after sending it to HTC due to the data connection dropping like in this thread:
http://forum.vodafone.co.uk/t5/HTC-One-series/HTC-One-S-poor-signal/td-p/1088617/page/10

Got it back from HTC and they said they replaced the cover, a speaker and did some sort of "mod" which the CS person couldn't get the details for.

The phone is still having the same problem when I use it with my talkMobile sim, which I have been using in my old orange San Fransico for the past week perfectly fine.

The guys only suggestion was to try a different SIM and if that has a problem send it back for a 'priority' repair.

 so annoying that it keeps dropping the internet!
On the plus side I sent it on Friday (was meant to be Thurs but the UPS driver said he broke down) and got it back today.

Btw don't use their web based warrenty system as the guy who did mine was pretty useless, didn't email me the labels I had to print off so I ended up having to call them to get all the proper forms!

So is there a way to stop this appearing as a portable media player whenever it's plugged into the PC? Not being able to view images as thumbnails is driving me nuts when trying to sort through them.

Oh yeah and mine has gotten a lot more scratched lately.. Not sure how but i'd like to refer back to this

It should be free, was it a contract or unlocked?

Contract from buymobilephones.

Tried my SIM card in a lumia 800 and the tesco sim from the lumia 800 in my S, everything worked fine on both phones so put them back and everything worked ok, however, phone calls coming through are intermittent yet texts came in fine (with my sim in my S)

So factory reset now and will see how things go.

@smyth

Unfortunately that still seems to be a problem for people, the dropping mobile data connection.

Thanks for the info. on your experience. At least if I do need to send my phone of, it shouldn't be away too long....

And will keep that in mind when/if I contact them :)

@Skillmister

No idea

But you could use airdroid, great app for looking through photos/videos via your desktop without actually plugging into the PC.

Actually checked my phone properly and it has a single crack going diagonally. The box they send you the phone back in does not secure the phone as you have a 1 cm gap allowing the phone to bounce around in the box ...

Properly my last HTC phone after all the MAO drama and now the internet and fail repair :(

Hmm, maybe I won't send my phone of then.......... :p

Phone didn't really seem much/any better last night after the factory reset with regards to reception and was still iffy about receiving/making calls/texts, however, this morning so far all seems to be fine and reception is back to almost full again so perhaps it was just a problem with o2 and not the phone......... Will still monitor it over the next few days.

I raised a ticket about the cracked screen and it's been escalated but they say it's going to take a while. This is the what they stated after I asked how long it would take as I was out of the country next Tuesday:

It is my personal opinion that it is unlikely that this will be dealt with by then as there are a couple of processes that need to be followed before we can get this issue resolved for you which can take a couple of days each.

So I'm guessing it's the waiting game now ...

Poor show, if I where you, I would kick up a fuss, unfortunately it seems to be the only way that you will get somewhere with these companies now :( Always threaten them by saying you will be letting every review/tech. etc. site and friend/family member know of the incredibly poor/slow service and would advise them to stay well away from HTC etc.

So far, my phone seems to be working good, signal is usually around 4-5 bars as opposed to the zero/2 bars a few days ago, able to send/receive calls and text perfectly well.

Since doing a factory reset, my battery life has been MUCH better, getting what I use to with ics, if not better. 2-3 days out of a full charge, before I was having to charge every 1-2 days.

Really wish HTC would revert to the old battery monitor system, new one really does suck.

Hmn that's tempting. I'm normally on 25% or less by 11pm so I'm charging every night. How easy would it be to get everything back after a factory reset? I'm not rooted and running Apex..

You could use my backup pro to back up most things, only thing you can't back up are app settings and things like game save files. Some apps have a backup /restore option built in I. E. apex

Personally I always start fresh as it is the only way to be sure :p as whatever was/is causing the problem could be restored with the backup.

Not sure what would have been causing my worse battery life before as I checked better battery stats etc. And could never see anything out of the ordinary.

The thing is, I did a factory reset after the JB update, however, battery life wasn't as good as what I am getting now  Maybe I must have missed a setting or installed some app that messed something up.....

Apparently it takes 7-10 working days for them to make a decision on my phone's cracked screen.

Pretty annoyed, tempted by the xperia sp now I've pretty much lost faith in HTC.
