*** The official HTC One S thread ***

After much deliberating over the N4 and my One S , I decided to sell the One S and keep the N4 just purely for the amount of development options there are. The only thing I have not been able to to improve on the One S is the camera which is still adequate by comparison. Here is hoping you guys get some more updates for the phone and that sense 5 is not to intrusive for you.

Nice

How you finding it overall compared to the s?

I am still extremely tempted by it, just a superb phone overall and especially when you consider the price, only thing that really stops me is the camera and wee things like the sense browser, camera app etc.

Indeed, hopefully sense V5 will improve the S in a few areas even more! Very much looking forward to it, mainly for zoe, new modified apps that are more minimal etc. Shame it will probably take like another 4-5 months for it to arrive though :( :p

Hi Guys

Anyone know when Jelly bean is coming to The HTC One S on locked T-Mobile UK ?

Wow, still no JB  :o

sim free phones got it around xmas day :p

What CPU chipset do you have, s3/1.7GHz or S4/1.5ghz?

Best to ask them on twitter really.

Installed AOSP Browser with a modified sync.apk which sorted that out till Chrome ups its game. Flashed a mod to effectively double the bit rate of the camera and video recording, which has made some gains. Maybe there will be some software improvements via KLP. Franco,s kernel sorts out the low headphone volume and allows you to set the screen up just how you want it. Overall it is such a flexible phone if you just love to tinker about. Also I could not go any larger than this with the bumper on it, my hands are not big enough.

oh, good to hear!

Does flash work ok with that AOSP browser? What about text reflow?

Hopefully KLP will bring further improvements to the camera overall (amongst other things) and if it does then I think I might just have to get one!

Flash works fine after side loading and text reflow seems no different to me after I had tweaked it to roughly the same settings I used on the One.
You do realise you have 15 days grace to return to Google for a refund if you do not like it? It took quite a while for me to adapt from using sense for my last 3 phones, with the small exception of when I ran my desire on Cyanogen.

My friend got a n4 to replace her broke gs3 so I will get a good hands on with it when setting it up for her and I should be able to get a good idea as to what the phone is really like overall then. Looking forward to it although I still think I would prefer the s overall due to the camera on the whole (one of my main uses), aluminium uni body and sense overall.

Sense was my biggest issue along with slow updates and it did not help that I have had a N7 since release and after seeing updates within 48 hrs it was a no brainer. Agreed if you are a heavy camera user, you probably will not like it.

Yeah I love stock android especially the theme/layout/ui but there are some things that irritate me :o :p main reason I like sense over stock is unified feel/ui.

Hi

On s3/1.7

I have asked on Twitter and Facebook. HTC tells me it has been released to T-Mobile and it's up to them to send it out. T-Mobile blame HTC for the delay and are not able to tell me when I will get it.

So just go round in circles !

:confused::confused::confused:

Ah that will be why then, the S3/1.7GHZ got the update quite a bit later than the S4 so HTC are the telling the truth, it is down to T-mobile to test it/ add their stuff and then release it.

Keep an eye on these threads:

I don't think it will be much longer.........

Thanks for that, next phone will be unbranded but got 16 months still to go on my contract.

:cool::cool::cool:

I was uploading a few shots the other day and noticed the HTC One Flickr group. There's some absolutely incredible photos in there, can't believe I didn't see it sooner. :o

Let's hope we get the "One" sequence shooting mode from our Sense 5 update!
I keep forgetting what a great camera the HOS has tbh. Here's a landscape shot from last summer, the detail you can pull out is amazing.

Wow, some outstanding photos there (granted some of the really good ones have been editied in lightroom etc.), would think that they were taken with a proper DSLR camera!

Really nice shot you got there as well, one S is superb in the camera department and with sense V5 it will be even better  (assuming we get the zoe feature etc.) Can't wait for it, hopefully we will get it in the next 1-2 months.....

HDR worked really well the other night

normal photo (auto settings), hardly any light, just the front door step light, which is pretty dim. Both photos taken from behind a dirty/wet window, hence the spot/blur marks :p :o

Who needs "ultrapixels" :p

Update on my HTC One S repair:

I received an update on Tues 19-Mar-2013 just stating that the CS agent had forwarded some photos I took of the cracked screen to the relevant department for investigation.

Mean while I'm out of the country and on Friday 22-Mar-2013 I get a phone call from a work colleague saying UPS are here to pick up the phone. I'm thinking wth is that about as I never received any info about them picking it up. So I send off a response the HTC CS agent asking for an update. He responds about how UPS want to check the device and packaging to see if they did the damage.

Nice going HTC, send someone round to pick up a device when I'm not in the country and you don't even inform me about it!

Anyway I'm going to make a formal complaint about the shocking service, so I do a bit of googling about how to go about this and see this BBC article from 2011:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/watchdog/2011/10/htc_phones.html

I guess nothing much has changed, no wonder their market share is dropping like no tomorrow!

Such a pity as I really liked the HTC One S and their phones build quality. I'm just going to sell my cracked screen HTC One S and get a new phone.

If you don't have problems HTC phones are great, otherwise keep your fingers crossed when you send it for repair.

To be fair it does seem like you have been extremely unlucky Smyth :( Some people have had excellent service from them in the past few months.

No company are any better really except apple I. E. Have a look in the last few pages of the note ii and gs3 thread .

Make sure you let them know that you'll be letting every media /news site etc. know about their service, one guy who had problems with them did the same and got a one x in the end due to how awful they were with him. Not sure who it was, but it is somewhere in this thread :p I'll have a look later and see if I can find the posts.

Yeah, I've sent my One S off twice before for the MAO issue and they got me the phone back perfectly with the case replaced in around 4 days. It's just now they seem to be a bit useless when the problem is slightly more difficult then changing the case!
