*** The official HTC One S thread ***

after asking over at xda it looks like i just need to unlock at htc dev then flash the recovery

cant find a very good guide about flashing the recovery though

so have held back from flashing a different rom at the moment and may just wait for the official update

hehe :D

I am not fussed on the normal grey version but sarge's version looks so good :p

Plus my wee nicks would be gone then :D

Mine has got considerably worse, both sides are pretty much white on the sharp edge near the bottom and quite a few on the back :D past the caring stage though! It's been over a year already

got bored at work so decided to unlock the bootloader, root and install custom recovery

everything has gone fine apart from when i go into recovery and try to back up my current rom it says not enough space :-(

havent flashed anything else yet as would like a full backup

Nice macro shot there emu!

Then it is time for you to "sarge" your phone! :D :p

Thankfully mine is still in pretty good condition although a few tiny marks are starting to show on the sides but very hard to notice unless really looking for it. Once it gets to a very bad condition then I'll probably just buy the metal body from ebay or "sarge" my phone :D

Oh wow, a replacement body only costs £6-£25 now? Nice, I might grab a black one to see what they're like :) (assuming they're high quality fakes?)

Aluminium still rocks! :p Can't wait to see how the M4 is designed, the plastic end caps on the HOS look a bit out of place.

Just about to link that! Pretty tempting until I read further down:

Used & Grade B, Not Brand New Comes With 3/4 Scratches on Side bezel

:(

Yeah that has really started to get to me in the last few weeks! Not sure exactly why as I wasn't too bothered about them when I first got the phone...... Imagine if the back was just pure aluminium with a MAO finish!

if you are rubbing down the scratches come out

just about to flash a sense 5 rom , will report back with my findings

I was going to keep that completely black as my current casing has a few nicks/chips in it from a drop a few months back so was going to "sarge" it :p :(

No  Never.

Black phones > xxxxxxxxx

well i can see the attraction with sense 5 it is very nice

only bit i didnt like was the big page to the left with all the feeds on it

i couldnt find a way to edit the weather and the feeds on that page

it ran the same if not smoother than the older sense

just a shame the bluetooth was borked on the rom i tried

for the time being i am stock but rooted and custom recovery installed (love using greenify)

love that wallpaper at the mo

Yeah there is a sense V5 rom for the S but not going anywhere near it since a few things aren't working plus bugs:

Not working:

Bluetooth
MMS
FM Radio
WiFi Tether
More

hoping it will be perfect with zero bugs by the end of this month.... don't care about performance etc. as I found my one S to be more or less the same as the HTC one, only noticeable speed differences in a few things like web browsing (which also could be down to sense V5 VS V4+)

Currently running more or less stock android apps for a change, still using the sense browser, camera etc. though as there aren't any 3rd party apps as good as them :(

With this hot weather, this is when the 1s really shines, nice and cold to touch! Love how the metal body doesn't get sticky/grimy etc. either

Yeah too close to the HO. The HOS footprint was already a bit too big for a 4.3" phone and this looks even longer! (They've really gone for iPhone look then? :D:D)
For me these smaller phones need to be between 120-125mm long and 60mm wide to make it worthwhile, like the Razr I or GS4 mini.
