*** The official HTC One S thread ***

Yeah too close to the HO. The HOS footprint was already a bit too big for a 4.3" phone and this looks even longer! (They've really gone for iPhone look then? :D:D)
For me these smaller phones need to be between 120-125mm long and 60mm wide to make it worthwhile, like the Razr I or GS4 mini.

Spot on - the Razr I is how you design a small phone with a big screen.

So annoyed with HTC changing the design from the one S/X, it really is more or less perfect imo! The only things they needed to do was reduce the bezel, make the sides and edges a bit more rounded, lose the plastic parts on the back and make the camera lens flush with the back, essentially have the design of the HTC one when it comes to that area and the antenna stuff etc.

Here are just a few quick mockups, one with a quick crappy job of stereo front speakers :p :o

As nice as the HTC one is, I seriously have no idea how people/reviewers rant and rave about the design as if it was the "only" android phone to date to look good and ooze build/perceived quality!

Haven't seen the RAZR i in person but the lack of the bezel at the top and sides from pics etc. does look great, shame about the bottom part, back and sides though! :p :(

Indeed, it is bad :( Shame as apart from that, I can't see any other stitching problems/areas.

Going to have a read up and see what I can do in order fix it.

clone tool, copied a bit of water from the other side of the picture, some brightness/hue adjustments and thats about it - the hard bit to get CLEAN will be the ship at the right corner... but you could do it properly in ~1hr at a guess.

You mean the left side? :p

Good spot, probably too much effort and time required to fix that area though :p :o Will have a quick go at it and see what can be done.

Have finally received an email back........

I understand you are enquiring about the HTC One S receiving the next Android operating system update.

Thank you for contacting us. We're committed to delivering a great customer experience. As such, we investigate all reported issues. If a hardware or software change is found to improve a customer experience, it will be deployed according to our standard, required processes.

We apologize for any inconvenience you have experienced and appreciate your patience as we work quickly to investigate this issue

At the moment we have no information about when the next Android update is due to be released, I am only aware that it has been currently delayed from distribution. In regards to your enquiry about your device receiving the Sense upgrade to Sense 5.0, it is unlikely that any device updated to 4.2 will receive Sense 5.0 but they would receive an updated version of Sense to go with the updated Android OS.

I advise to keep an eye on our Website, Facebook and Twitter pages for further news about which devices will be supporting Jellybean 4.2.x.

I wonder if he could mean that they will receive sense V5.1 (the version that the one is getting with 4.2.2)?

Plus there have been plenty of sources saying that the X will receive 4.2.2 and sense V5 (can't remember if they said 5.1 or just V5)

And then some guy tweeted this..........

Yeah I seen that but............ :p

Not working:

Bluetooth
MMS
FM Radio
WiFi Tether
More

Have also read that some people are experiencing battery drain etc.

It does look very good though and once it is completely working and stable, I will most likely flash it since sense V5 won't be coming or it will take a long time! I badly want zoe!

Are you using it? If yes, how are you finding it in terms of performance overall etc. compared to sense V4+?

Oh dear....

Now official...it's unfortunate that HTC have decided NOT to update the HOS past 4.1.1 a classic u-turn by HTC who earlier stated that the HOS will get the update. (I'm not surprised TBH as HTC have previous form for doing the exact same thing.)

Such a great phone IMO and very underrated, it could easily run Sense 5 and 4.2.2, HTC missed out big here and will most likely annoy and frustrate a lot of HOS owners.

Way to go HTC, I guess the only way to get 4.2.2 is to root the phone and hope that the devs get working on a decent and reliable ROM.

Seen that earlier and bloody ****ed of big time, have sent email asking them why exactly, don't know why I bothered wasting time though as the people working there don't have a clue and there doesn't seem to be any communication within that company at all.

Back to considering an iphone 5s if/when it comes out, sick and tired of ****ing android fragmentation, be it due to the way things work with networks (i.e. branded phones getting the updates before sim free and the OEMs actually working on the network's apps/bloat for them) or the OEMs and their skins with no guarantee as to if you will receive the latest update and if you do, be prepared to wait 6+ months, even for a minor update! Every OEM sucks big time, wasn't the GS 3 and note II suppose to have got 4.2.2 by now??? (now been delayed till later in the year) Wasn't the HTC one suppose to be getting 4.2.2 like a month ago?? Xperia Z has only just got 4.2.2 despite Sony saying "very soon" after release....... It will be interesting to see if Samsung keep to their word about the GS 2 and note 1 and when they get the update....

Either that or I stick to nexus phones from now on, unfortunately they always lack in one area big time and that area is usually the camera overall, which is most important to me......

To me when a company can't provide good support, it just shows that they don't care about customers at all and therefore they don't deserve any money.

All very well people saying root and flash etc. but you SHOULDN'T have to do that! Especially with a device that is barely a year old!

EDIT:

Oh and what did I say about that "18 month guaranteed support cycle" that google and the OEMs formed........ a load of **** and it won't stop companies from dropping support when they want to!

EDIT:

BTW the last update the one S got was at xmas time, the 4.1 update so effectively it only received 7-8 months of updates

EDIT:

Great to see HTC getting a good bashing across every site in the comments section now.

Have seen a lot of posts saying they were going to buy the HTC one or the one GPE, however, after seeing that news and with no confirmed news about the one X etc. they won't touch a HTC phone now.

So who knows, maybe this up roar will change their minds (doubt it considering there was just as much with the sensation etc.) and even if they do decide to update it, the damage has already been done.

Wow that seems unfortunate. Seems like a silly decision by HTC there. Screwing over loyal customers isn't the best move...

They are really getting slated in comment sections of tech sites though, typical stupid HTC move. Their own worst enemy they are.
