*** The official HTC One S thread ***

you know how many times i've heard this from random people? about samsung, htc, sony etc... yet they still buy a phone that suits them the most when they need it.. ;)

I can imagine! However, this was my first "proper" Smartphone - and if the supplier is going to kill updates like this, well, y'know ;)

Funny thing is when i got my OneS the amount of **** i got from people for buying a htc was off the charts. But i said i wouldn't let previous crap get in the way of me buying the phone i wanted, and now they do this :D Oh well, like i said it's not a huge issue for me, phone works and there isn't anything i need from an update.

Picked up an HTC One yesterday, after 4 years of iPod / iPad / iPhone useage - I'm bored of the same icons, software etc.....

Like the phone.

One question - I can't find how to indicate the battery % by the clock on the home page - can anyone advise? My OS is up to date.

Thanks

Can thank the OEMs too ;) :o

No the mfr gets the source code etc from google, they create a vodafone version, an o2 version etc then give it to them to test, they test and approve then roll it out if/when they feel like it.

So the sim free version ends up at the bottom of the pile because their "customers" (yes I know we're all their customers but in reality their customers are the networks that facilitate getting their stuff into our hands) come first

As for battery %, install an app from the market for the time being such as battery widget reborn

sense v5 runs as smooth as stock with my custom rom so no reason why we shouldnt get it

htc have really fu$$$$ its customers over here and for a phone not very old its carp

i do love my camera and beats audio but will not be buying htc again

i know a lot people **** apple off but the iphone 4s a device released in 2011 is getting ios7

EDIT:

BTW

Hi guys! I was just approached with some excellent news by a supporter of this petition. From the wording of the email, it appears that HTC is reconsidering the One S for updates! Please have a read for yourself below:

"I can certainly understand personally that this has led annoyed and would like to inform you that I can understand you perfectly.

We have received the official notification that has not yet ruled on the final distribution of updates. Therefore I beg you to have patience for a few time.
You are welcome to follow us on Facebook and Twitter to get the most current and accurate information.

Thank you for your understanding and wish you a pleasant evening."

The supporter then asked for the HTC representative to elaborate on the information provided. HTC wrote:

"We are waiting for an final information from our specialist department. So I cannot say you anything about this case. Please wait for a few time, so we can tell you more about this."

EDIT:

And if it isn't too much trouble, email HTC directly via here too:

Thanks! :)

Should hit the 5000 signatures mark by the end of today/early tomorrow morning, all in about 5 days, not bad!

Completely agree with this article:

HTC will be very stupid to not change their minds with all of this back lash from every site and reader! If they don't, I hope google step in and hopefully in return, it will make them and other OEM's think twice about trying to do something like this again!

Nice pic.

I hope google step in and hopefully in return, it will make them and other OEM's think twice about trying to do something like this again!

The only way Google can improve OEM Android phones is to manufacture and support brilliant Motorola phones. Compete or go bust! (or move to Windows :p)

Let's hope the first Google Motorola is a good one.

Thanks :)

Lets hope they do deliver something special! :) Hopefully not be much longer!

It would be utterly fantastic if google could update the core/base of android across all oem phones without the involvement of the OEMs & networks and without affecting the skins/apps  My wish for KLP!

My mum called me earlier to say shes having SMS problems.

When she opens the (stock) messaging app everything appears normal with the list of people and message previews but if she clicks to open one it just gets the spinning circle loading thing and nothing happens. Same with all messages and shes tried restarting the phone.

Any ideas? Everything is stock and memory isnt full.
