*** The official HTC One S thread ***

My One S's network issues were a lot better yesterday. Currently in the house where I was getting 1 bar at most but often no bars and losing connection, I'm sat on a solid 2 or 3 bars  Maybe the wind direction has changed :D Whatever I hope this continues. No dropped connections as far as I'm aware in last 24hrs. Idle it sits on 3G but as soon as any activity it switches to H - which is normal behavior. No 3G/H switching once on 'H'. All of which is much better. We'll see how it goes today. Signal on the phone is still a lot weaker than it should be though.

As to Gmail Nexus then it was installed from the word go here. It may have updated I'm not sure but has been working fine as far as I'm aware. Don't use it as my default email using my own imap account but use gmail for app purchases etc. I've purchased a couple of apps and mail receipt has been instant. Get spam on the account but can't be sure it's instantaneous but is still received.

Nexus - still getting along with the tough case. Only small thing is the rubbery outer cover makes the phone stick in the pocket a little, more so if it is a tight pocket! Without the case my iPhone owning family members can't believe how thin the phone is :D

No idea what is wrong with my phone, so just giving up with it for now lol. Not really a big problem as I get some emails instantly and others within 7 minutes.

Yeah getting along with the tough just fine :)

Took it off the other day though to give the screen a good clean along the edges and I really miss the sleekness/looks of the mobile :( but the case is necessary especially for the black model so it will be staying on for good :p one of the biggest pro's for the tough case being on the device is just how much more comfortable it makes the device to hold due to the grip it provides and the edges.

Had my first crash last night. Was posting a reply on here using ics browser+ and SwiftKey 3 beta and I was using the magnification tool to place the cursor in a certain place and the mobile just froze for about 10 seconds and restarted automatically. Not sure why it happened.....

Can't say I have noticed that issue northstander even when playing games when I first had the phone just "naked" and won't notice it now as I have a tough case on! :p

After the fail that we had last night with the GS 3 pretty much :p :o More people on XDA etc. are getting the S now, so hopefully this phone will be more popular everywhere! :D

Nexus - do you know anyone with a GNex - that you could compare screens with - would like to hear you thoughts on sharpness.

Still on page 12 - this is a slow thread - where's all the people that wanted a 4.3" screen? and not the biggies.

I don't know anyone with a GN, but have had a good long play with it many times since release, not just ones clamped to the service of a desk in shops :p But out of the box and right in my hand.

The GN screen is great, very crisp display overall and colours aren't as "saturated" as the GS 2 screen, not that this is a bad thing though, they look a bit more "natural" IMO but you still have the great viewing angles and blacks etc. I would say that the S was maybe a bit more over saturated for colours compared to the GN.

The only area where some parts don't look as sharp as the one X screen is on text in the web browser when fully zoomed out but again you will have to zoom in a bit no matter what anyway with both screens so this is kind of made irrelevant IMO. Again the GN is better for web browsing than the S.

Overall the GN screen is sharper than the one s screen when side by side, but not as huge of a difference as you might think.......

It is a nicer screen than the one S without a doubt though.

As said before the pentile isn't a huge issue on either the S or GN from what I can see, on the one s it is only noticeable (again though you really have to look for it) with white text on black background.

Indeed! :( Shame the device isn't more popular here, but I am hoping that will change now..........

Any recommendations on good stuff to add?

I have replaced stock sense launcher with apex, keyboard with swiftkey 3 beta, browser with ics browser+, dialer with ex dialer and ics theme and the stock messaging app with go sms pro and a ICS theme modified to my liking amongst other things :)

You can see all the apps I have installed here:
