*** The official HTC One S thread ***

I just love the battery life! :D

Similar usage as stated before, but a bit more heavy use for web browsing this time and automatic brightness:

Looking at getting a new case as well, want something more minimal and slimmer, which covers the top and the bottom, only gel/silicone covers seem to cover those areas though :(

Quite like the look of the Qubits Hybrid Rubberised Back Cover Case, similar to the case mate barely there but only costs £5, unfortunately doesn't cover the top or bottom though.....

Was away on a cruise from the 19th-26th May and had no internet connection so couldn't check anything out at all and been a bit busy & tired the past week so have only really got back onto the PC again in the last day or so.

I bet you all did! :p :D

Had a quick look in that thread, it has grown a lot since I last checked it! Unlike this thread......... :p

Not much seems to have changed though.... appears to still be the same old story over there, plus I have said all that I needed to (on more than one occasion.... ¬_¬) :p

Just got back from the shops and had a good long play with it (white model).

I actually think it looks cheaper in real life than in the pics  :p Didn't really notice any brush effect whatsoever, which is a good thing in my books as it is plastic and not metal.

- Needless to say I hate white and didn't like the look of the mobile at all anyway regarding the design of the front (just the buttons)/back etc. however, I love the thin bezel
- It felt very nice to hold in the hand and surprisingly didn't feel as big as what you would think
- Felt very sturdy and well built
- Screen is stunning, super sharp and lovely colours, much prefer it to the X screen
- Very fast and smooth, however, for web browsing it wasn't anywhere near the speed of my S (using stock sense and quick ICS browser), the GS 3 was on wifi and mine was on a H data connection (about 2MB/s dll), I imagine this is just the unit that I was using though or the wifi connection. In fact, it took a while for HQ youtube videos to play, like 15+ secs to buffer, so most likely just a poor wifi connection.
- Hate touchwiz, don't like the launcher/colour scheme/modded apps at all, sense 4 is far more polished overall IMO
- Screen feels very nice to touch

What is your battery life like? Only seen a couple of people post their usage in the other thread and I personally didn't think it was anything special.......about 3 hours on screen time, automatic brightness and only about 10-15% left.......

Nice, presume automatic brightness and eye tracking turned on?

But having a SIM in impacts the battery life a lot as when I was away, I had airplane mode on and with very heavy use for games, camera (1080P recording etc.) etc. I could easily gets days out of a single charge, by the end of each day I still had 70+ % left.

soz for the large pics.

Yes the Sim impacts battery life but I believe that it's still good going. I don't think my S2 would achieve that.

Will never really get to tell how good the battery life is until I get my own one. Will check on my sis and nephew after a couple of weeks to get an idea of real use.

Look forward to the results :)

Just looking through some photos that I took when I was away and I am pretty impressed with the quality considering the conditions for some shots!

Only a few photos, settings were left as auto/default.

Rome obviously :p However, these were taken when inside a bus and on a very dark cloudy day, poured that day :(

Found this case, which looks pretty damn good! Not many places selling it though :(

Will try to get one for free (¬_¬) in return for a review and therefore brand promotion! :p

Yup, not bad for a phone camera and through glass.

I find the HOS camera software does over sharpen somewhat and the other thing I noticed with mine is that it struggles with white balance, more so when reds and greens are involved. I maybe need to check the default settings a little more though did fiddle with white balance with limited success. For what it is it isn't bad really. Of course it'll never replace my Nikon DSLR but is handy for the times you're caught without a camera. The speed of the phone camera is quite something but personally find it not easy to use without a dedicated shutter button on the phone itself. The actual phone camera will never really be a deal breaker for me all that said. Hope you had a good trip Nexus. Did wonder if you had gone over to the dark side .... Apple

As I've said earlier I dumped the Case-Mate. Hot weather seemed to make the rubbery outer shell even worse for getting phone in and out of pocket. Also heat seemed to make the edges of the inner protection layer start to go 'soft' around the edges and start to stretch.

I bought an OtterBox Commuter from the US. I think they will be available over here in the UK around middle of this month. Fits very well. Makes the phone feel slimmer than the Case Mate tough though don't think there is a lot in it. The outer shell is more plastic than rubber and is slicker getting in and out of your pocket. The corners are the exposed inner protection layer which is rubbery and adds just enough friction when handling the phone to lessen chances of slipping from hand. There are holes for both mikes and little flaps to cover both ports on the phone. They're a good compomise and keep pocket dust out the respective ports. Being in a manual job it is ideal for me.
