So Not massive, but enough to get us started and with decent phones. After redemtion, contract will have cost £392.
Got to admit, by the time I walked out of P4U, I was feeling pretty chuffed :D

It's a shame that some users are having a few issues with the HOS as other than the flagship phones (HOX and S3) the HOS provides an excellent alternative to those who don't want a bigger screen or can't afford them. Today I ran graphic intensive games like Virtua Tennis and Shadowgun on the HOS and S3 respectively.

I can honestly say that the S4 chip held up very well against the quad core Exynos chip. I'd even go as far as to say that the S4 chip was better game play wise running Virtua Tennis.

The HOS never got above 34.6 degrees whilst playing these games whereas the S3. got to 42.3 degrees. It just goes to show how well Qualcomm have done with the S4 chip.

As you all know my only grip with the HOS is the lack of internal memory. I'd love to see a comparison between the S4 HOX XL S4 Galaxy S3 and our beloved HOS just out of interest sake!

Picking up a One S myself today want a smaller phone to use for comfortable one handed use, hope its good.

I would think you will be happy with it. Hope you don't have the signal issue. TBH I can walk 30yards and One S then has wonderful signal on a par with my Motorola. Walk 30 yards back into yard and I'm struggling - that is how fickle mobile network reception is. Other than that it's great and sure you can't go wrong :p

The biggest shame is HTC seem to be ignoring the issue some users worldwide are having? It'd more than likely put me off HTC for good but I have a short memory and don't hold a grudge :o

Is the HTC One XL going to be available in the UK. Here we have a One X with a One S heart .... what's not to like? Oh wait, we maybe can't get one  I for one would be prepared to give one a spin. Anyone know anything for sure on the subject?

That is a very good deal! Damn right you should be chuffed :)

The XL and S did exceptionally well, I am a bit surprised by S and XL beating s4 GS 3 in most of the tests and by quite a bit as well! I know the S doesn't have the same res. as the GS 3 but the XL does. So either HTC have done a very good job of optimizing sense or/and Samsung have done a **** job of optimizing touchwiz for it :p I imagine though with a few software updates, the GS 3 will more or less match the XL/S.......

Picking up a One S myself today want a smaller phone to use for comfortable one handed use, hope its good.

The amount of phones you go through!!!! :p

You should like it, if you liked the X for general use then you will love the S as well, not to mention the feel/size.

You may not like the screen though as you have had the iphone 4 and the 4s I think? As well as the galaxy nexus and X and they are much sharper overall, but the rest of the screen is great :) Although if you liked the GS 2 screen, then you should like the S screen as well.

Either way, looking forward to hearing your thoughts it :)

Some news sites stated that the XL was going to be brought to the UK, however, this was a couple of months ago and there has been nothing else mentioned and then also due to the shortage of the S4 chip as well as Samsung buying the rest for their USA GS 3, it is even less likely now :( You could always import it from the USA though :)

Just took my back cover off and back on as it felt slightly loose in comparison.. Wasn't seated properly i guess it's fine now :o Will be interesting to see if the other one has more reliable wifi strength

Looking after my neighbours cat whilst she is away for two weeks and she has some red plants/flowers, so took a few pics to see what my 1S camera is like for the colour red, and it is much the same as kona's shots, too saturated :p But reducing the saturation by one brought it to a more "natural" colour.

As always, it is the full size image, so open in a new tab to see all the detail :)

Firstly, a pic of the cat :p, use to "help" look after her a lot before TC came around the neighbourhood:

Photo was taken indoors obviously :p Lowish light, settings left on auto:

Now onto the red petals:

Photos were taken indoors again as you can see :p, relatively bright, first shot of each pair were just left on auto/default settings, second pic is minus 1 level for saturation:

This next one is more of a deep purple colour, settings left on auto/default and the second one is minus one level for saturation:

Should have tried minus 2 levels for the saturation as well, but I didn't have much time, will try it next time I am over.

I was just looking at AVForums out of interest and there isn't even a HTC One S thread there (the One X thread has 35k views etc)!

People really don't fancy it, I bet this is the most popular place for it on the internet. :p

That is a disgrace! :o I am very tempted to go register on the forum and create one right now! :p

Lol, I honestly think that you are probably right about that, here and XDA are the only places were it really gets discussed. Even androidforums sub forum for the S is pretty much dead :(

Would love to know how many X and S devices have been sold, dread to imagine what the sales for the V must be like  :p

Even my Samsung galaxy spica was way more popular than the S , that is saying a lot :p

Nexus, you need to get into the Xperia S thread, there's a guy in there who is about to choose the XS over the One S, oh the humanity! :p

Messing about with the in-gallery effects editing, it's actually quite good :)
I'm still using -1 saturation and -1 sharpness and everything else on 0 in the camera app.

So my mum went and got a one S this morning. 1.5ghz version with the lovely slightly rounded top edge :o I'm jealous it feels nice and pretty sure it won't chip

Result! The top is quite sharp on the OG, I've got chip now too :D

I like to test phones Nexus18 :p, my initial thoughts so far are its sweet, the screen resolution was never going to be as good as the One X which I knew, and the colours/blacks look better on this so no surprise again.

Performance wise I am surprised I never thought this would feel snappier than the X and it does and Sense doesn't really lag on this , same with the video side it seems much smoother on this, all in so far nice phone and the perfect size, I can easily text one handed with this but not the X and this was one of the major things for me and this is much louder phone out of the two, will see how it goes with more use and battery life.
