*** The official HTC One S thread ***

Yeah, my bro still has the desire and he has pretty much just got the all stock experience (not many apps installed), 2.2 still and everything sense related still being used  :o and it is soooo laggy when scrolling but quite snappy (surprisingly) when opening apps etc. (probably cause there isn't much installed though :p) the screen is pretty damn poor looking now as well, really dim and looks quite washed out  (he has the AMOLED version), and text isn't anywhere as sharp either.

Don't even get me started on how long it takes to load about 1000 photos in the stock gallery :p :o

I paid £349 at cpw for payg (plus obligatory £10 o2 topup). I was told that the o2 version wasn't branded or network locked, although I'm planning on going to giffgaff anyway. I've been working with a guy who's got the sgs3 and its just too big (and expensive). Same goes for the One X. There didn't seem to be any 4.3" phones on the horizon either.. although I'm sure someone will prove me wrong!

Yup, coming from a Desire so I'm expecting big things! It'll be nice not to have that incessant 'no internal memory left' reminder...

Just picked up my One S :D

Says 1.5ghz dual core, z520e on the box. Thats the s4 chip right? Can I check it anywhere on the phone/android itself. I just wanna make double triple sure :p

Unfortunately Im entertaining my mother today so no time to play - argh!

Yep, that's the S4.

Enjoy.

Where did it come from mate? I've just returned my GS3 due to it being too big for me to adjust to. HTC is my next move!

I had hoped you wouldn't find me Robbo! I don't have particularly big hands in all fairness but they aren't like girly sized!

There isn't anywhere around here that has a HTC one as a demo phone so i'm a little stuck!

If you or nexus want some GS3 screen protectors I have six here that you're welcome to!

Hehe!

No thanks, I don't use screen protectors and Nexus doesn't have a GS3 unless he's sneakily bought one without telling me. ;) :p

Another factor for me whilst I remember is - the iPhone 4s has infinitely better signal than the GS3 at home. o2 network signal isn't the best here but its excellent everywhere else I travel so I don't really want to switch networks!

That's strange, hopefully you'll be okay on the One S then as that has some signal issues.

The GS3 signal is pretty good though by all accounts, on par with all of my other phones.

Nope :p

Thanks for the offer anyway Mike :)

Hmm, the one S has a few signal issues, so you may not have better experience especially if you live in an area where it is already weak :(

Can always try one and if it doesn't work out, return it. HTC should be providing an update to fix/improve it (seems like it is a software problem), however, no idea when, hoping it will be within the next few weeks........

I'm convinced you two exist as a tag team duo to remind me of my constant bad decisions regarding mobile phones ;)

The last time someone offered me a tag team opportunity it was with something that was not particularly pleasant and apparently 'what goes on tour at the staff party stays on tour' .

Thankfully I was sober!

This also worried me, as I work in the middle of nowhere, and live in a bit of a blind spot. I am happy to report that so far I have had no issues. I have also seen 3G more times in the last week, than in the previous 2 years on my old phone/network. :p

Battery is currently on its 3rd day (thx for the qbright heads up), and time without signal is 2%. And that was partly my fault. Orange network.

At this moment in time, very happy. :)

Nice! Glad to hear that you aren't having any problems :)

I think I am the only one to have said that :p :o The matte back is very smooth and personally I don't think it has enough grip, however, the front half (the black glossy parts) has good grip so in some ways it isn't really an issue too much as picking up the mobile is perfectly fine etc.

Kona thinks that the back has good grip.

Let's put it this way, it is has more grip than the S "naked" overall :p

Very tempted to order a rock quicksand case (still) :o I want to see what all this fuss is about in the GS 3 accessories thread :p

Has anyones HTC One S managed to NOT chip?

I got a replacement one from Carphone Warehouse just over a week ago which looks like it's one of the new designs with a smoother edges and the beveled usb port (s/n starting sh26r) but I've got a chip on the usb port and another small chip on the side., haven't dropped it either.
