***The Official HTC One Thread***

For those of you who are wishing that the one had gorilla glass 3 like the GS 4, don't be too upset about it :p

Interesting post about gorilla glass 3 compared to GG 2 by Shen Ye

Just to clear up some speculation in regards to Gorilla Glass 3 vs. 2 using science and official specification documentation.

The difference in brittleness (determined by Young's Modulus) between Gorilla Glass 2 and 3 is 71.5 and 69.3 GPa respectively. This is a 3% difference, and barely any difference. Just as a comparison: glass is usually around 50-90 GPa, mother of pearl is on average 70 GPa. (lower=more elastic, higher=more brittle)

The axial stress (aka Poisson's Ratio) is almost exactly the same, 0.21 to 0.22, which can easily be down to systematic and rounding errors.

The fracture toughness (how hard it is for a crack to elongate/propogate) actually decreased from 0.68 to 0.66 MPa m^0.5, so if you have a crack in your screen, it will spread 3% easier.

And finally, the hardness of the glass did not change. It is just as easy to scratch a Gorilla Glass 2 panel as it is to scratch a Gorilla Glass 3 panel.

tl;dr - There are very little differences between Gorilla Glass 2 and 3. It should not be a deciding factor when you are deciding which phone to buy.

As much as I love SAMOLED screens, the one screen looks better here:

Would still prefer SAMOLED overall when it comes to normal usage though :p :o

That is standard for pretty much all android devices today Tazz.

It is just more advanced features and gives you more control, debugging things.

The developer edition of the htc one is different phone, meant for XDA developers

I have just received an email from BuyMobilePhones.net, saying my phone has been dispatched for delivery tomorrow.

Just need to find a decent case now.

Are you guys putting screen protectors on?

Screens are great on both, shame you can't say the same for the Xperia Z :p

:D

GS 4 VS HTC one camera:

Shame he didn't have phones the right way for majority of shots though!!!

Wish people/review sites would list what software they're running too.........

But I think it is safe to say now that we have seen all these recent new comparisons and user photos, that the one camera issues that we were seeing a lot of at the beginning, be it due to hardware and/or software have been fixed/improved now and as a result the one has a very nice camera on the whole.
