***The Official HTC One Thread***

Does anyone know where I can find the statusbar icons? I want to try theme Power Toggles to match the phone more, but even after ripping out framework-res.apk I cant't seem to find them all :(.

There's a lot of stock Android icons leftover as well...

EDIT: Found it on XDA, nevermind :p

I think the Beats symbols stays on due to having an app loaded that is currently using it. It just seems to use it for all audio from apps to games to your own music.

My screen has a very neutral colour similar to my Dell. I must have been quite lucky with my One :)

yeah done the same, sooooo handy, won't miss another episode of the big bang theory :p

NFC stuff looks cool, not played with it yet

What stuff works with it in the UK?

Nfc tags.

You program them to do what you want, for instance open sat nav fire up Bluetooth and play bat out of hell on your media app when you scan it in your car.

I've got a bunch of them I am messing around with at the moment.

Had more of a play with it today. Loving it so far. having inspected mine inst the best one build quality wise i'm sure ( slight overhangs, tiny gaps at the top between front speaker grill and plastic middle bit) but it doesn't bother me a hug amount. The main thing is that the screen is perfect, perfectly uniform, no noticeable tints, pin sharp, lovely :D.

One question, i thought this had 2GB ram but in the applications manager it only shows 1.5GB, is 25% of the ram taken up by the operating system??

I though the lights on my capacitive buttons were broken earlier but then read they only come on when the light sense low light. Put my hand over the sensor and sure enough the lights came on :p

Reserved by the system, e.g. the GPU. Kind of like how the inbuilt GPU of a PC will reserve some memory for itself.

After mostly searching around for icons for Power Toggles, and a bit of Photoshop:

kbeM1eB.jpg

This will have to do I guess :p. But it fits with the rest of the Sense 5 theme now . Still not sure using the "4G" icon as the data icon... couldn't seem to find a good one to use...

Also, does anyone use the speakers on their HO so much more than they ever did on previous phones? I rarely used the speakers on my last two phones, but now that I have good speakers, I always listen to music whilst just sitting in bed on the internet on my phone.

I think the speakers are a feature that many people with other phones will dismiss and say "Don't care about them, never listen to music or watch videos on my phone anyway" but it is because it sounds crap on other phones. When you actually have good speakers you use them a lot more.

Use them all the time for talk radio, podcasts and conference calls. I really think I'll struggle with another phone after this if the speakers aren't as good.

Where did you get these icons buddy?

Thinking of getting my Dad a HTC One, he current has a S2 and was looking at getting a Note 2, but I think its just too big to be useful, and I dont see it fitting his suit pants pockets.

Tried this phone out myself and it seems ok once I ignored some of the stupid HTC choices in software and hardware. Just wanted to ask if there was any issues or problems I should look at for once we get the phone or any reasons the Note 2 would be better. Hey spends most of his time on phone calls, reading the internet, and reading books so I believe the increased PPI and having a full RGB should improve both those things. Also having an IPS screen battery life should be good for that usages.

Camera doesn't really matter if it is as good as the S2 it more then enough, and the build should be way better so thats another plus.

Power Toggles is v good! How did you get rid of the 'Power saver' option? This is mine currently -

Found a way to remove the 'Power saver' option in the notification drop down. Keep hold of it, go to app info and force stop. It'll do for now, I don't think there is any other way unless you root.

Not sure if my screen has an issue. But the whites are very yellow and the gamma is off.

Here some comparisons with my N4

Compared with my Galaxy Note the whites on my brothers One are incredibly blue/cold. Very different to yours for sure

.

Have you asked in the N2 thread, for reading and watching content I'd go Note, your dad won't have any qualms about the size, is there much difference?

I picked one of these up yesterday and I'm loving the phone :) the only challenge I need to overcome now is getting some ibooks that I have linked to my iTunes onto it.

Also finding the best apps.

Starting to think about swapping to a 920 or S4 now as after 3 weeks my companies supplier still cant even give a date when they will have One's in stock....

Unless your dad wants:

- big screen
- SD slot
- removable battery
- stylus

There are no other reasons to get the note 2 over the one, the one is better in most areas. And you are right about the one screen being better for reading/browsing (at least in terms of res. and sub pixel arrangement plus being more power efficient on whites), however, having a bigger screen could be more beneficial than a sharper/better quality [overall] display.

Only issues (the majority seem to be having) to look out for, if you can even call them "issues" :p are:

- less than a mm gap at the top and bottom where the speaker covers join (the zero gap term only applies to the metal machined body)
- slight overhang on the top edges
- display not being "exactly" flush

An interesting and comprehensive review and comparison of both the One and S4, by someone who is becoming one of my favorite phone/tech reviewers, er shouldn't be necessary to say this but it's an hour long so I will, both sets of fans should be reasonably happy, it's confirmed my decision to wait, if GooMo let me down it will be the Note3, my fave all along tbh.

Most of them I ripped from the HTC's framework-res.apk (where most of the HTC's stock icons are hiding). Not all of the statusbar icons were there though so I ripped another apk from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2266596, which pretty much had most of the HTC icons so I didn't really need to rip the HTC framework-res.apk app. And then with the NFC icon I had to google around a bit. To open up the apk, all you do is open it up with 7zip or something similar.

Going to find a better data and NFC icon though, they feel a bit off from the rest at the moment.

By doing this as you found out :p:

The power saving feature still works, but you will need to access it via battery settings. If you reboot the notification comes back however... only way to "perm" hide it is via root or HTC releases an update to allow us to hide it.
