***The Official HTC One Thread***

I must agree with the others above. I have only had it 4 days but already i think it is the best phone i have ever owned as well (coming from an S3)

It is the smoothest operating phone i have ever had, i havent had one pause, hitch or second of lag, everything i have done has happened instantly. It feels so much more premium in the hand compared with the S4. Typing on it with haptic feedback on feels 100% better than it does on the S4.

The speakers and headphone sound quality/power is amazing.

The screen, whilst not quite as dazzling as the superamoled screens on my S3and the S4 that i had briefly, is amazing. Simply because it is so uniform across the whole thing...and whites are white. I could not believe the horrible uniformity on the S4's i had and having noticed this on the S4, i realised even my S3 was slightly darker/pinker at the bottom than it was on the top.....

Plus, i got £227 into my bank from O2 recycle for my S3 towards it today despite sending it late (prices have plummeted nearly £50 less now!!) so it has made it even sweeter :D

Only negatives would be that the notification light is not as good as the one on the S3/S4 (in fact it is fairly rubbish)

Just waiting for my Bouletta leather pouch from Germany to be delivered now :)

Is it best to wait for the Three update or just go ahead and flash Trickdroid? (which I assume is the best HO rom atm)

If you want to flash it, go ahead. The ROM is based off the 1.29 firmwire anyway so it will "update" your phone so to speak :p.

As for it being the best firmwire... I still say early days, most of the Sense based ROMs still feels too similiar to each other to me.

I'm still to receive this update. Not sure why they don't just make it like iOS's update system.

Ludicrous I tell ye.

Using Trickdroid myself (which is decent) along with PureXSound, which I do not recommend, I'm certain it's quieter now, even if it's supposedly better quality.

I personally havn't got the 1.29 update yet, but after getting familiar with the way the camera works, you can take some very good shots in all light conditions with the One's camera. The wide-angle front camera is also a very good feature, you get 5 people into the screen at once with ease. So neither are sub-par :p

That is what I have read too, it isn't a camera where you can just point and shoot, you need to learn how it works in certain lighting conditions and mess with the touch to focus to get the right exposure etc.

Plus you are suppose to turn of OIS if you're using a tripod (no need for OIS then) and with the one, I don't think you can do this and unfortunately (in some ways) a lot of sites use tripods in order to keep it a "fair test", whilst true, it isn't like most people will be carrying a tripod for their phones now :D And that is where OIS in combination with a very fast shutter shines above other phones, you get more consistent good photos i.e. less chance of blurry photos especially with moving objects and/or shaky hands.

Whilst the 1.28 and possibly 1.27 firmware are "fine" regarding the camera, the previous versions aren't :p A lot of sites had 1.26 firmware running when they wrote their reviews.

I can see why they use tripods, but you would be looked upon as being rather mad if you actually did use a tripod with your phone. But after getting used to it, I find after 2 seconds of allowing the camera to adjust, pick your focus, shoot. :)

Indeed! I certainly would never be seen with a tripod for my phone lol :D

Yup and remember give it a second or so after the camera has focussed in order to allow the OIS to "settle", this will eliminate the blur on the right hand side and supposedly the photo is a good bit sharper too.

I got the black one with the pull over magnetic tab. I was tempted by the antic coffee one but i just thought smooth black suited the phone more. A few people on XDA have said they are very happy with theres. Mine has been despatched today so hopefully will be here in the next couple of days.
