QC is the only reason I wouldn't buy an HTC and most of my info has come from ocuk I don't look at HTC forums on xda, I don't care what the reason is I wouldn't put up with shoddy stuff, look at the nightmares of momo and stoosh, on paper there's a lot to like with the One but I'm not prepared to play roulette when buying a phone, sorry to all the fans who identify with their phone manufacturer but that is how it is and going by sales figures I'm not alone.
If QC is so important to you then why did you buy a GS 4 with all its issues?
-
over heating
-
screen issues (screen smearing, pink/purple tint, red pixels,
AMOLED itself cracking with very little pressure +there at least another 5 big threads about that specific issue)
- the gaps it has
-
audio issues
+ all the "huge" threads on XDA back that up
Granted some of those have been fixed/improved now (screen smearing issue hasn't actually been fixed) but originally, no one was exactly sure if it could be fixed with an update and most thought they were related to hardware.
What about the sudden death issue that affected pretty much every note II and GS 3 owner?
What about the "nightmare" issues that ManCuBuS, mrk, e36Adz etc. had with their GS 3/note II's and
Samsungs customer service when it came to the sudden death issue?
And then what about the likes of jono8 and some other guy (will look for his posts) who had to go through 3 or 4 GS 4's and still didn't get a "good" one?
The reason for Samsung's huge sales figures is not purely down to QC quality........Even a number of sites have recently done an article on why the HTC one might not be enough despite being an excellent phone as shown by most of the reviews etc. and they have all listed it is "largely" down to the marketing, brand presence and until HTC have the money that Samsung has and the brand presence, they will never match their sales, even if the phone was 100 times better than Samsung's and was £100 cheaper and had no issues at all.
You have to remember that these "issues" (i.e. the hairline gap, screen not being exactly flush) which are being reported would not bother the majority of people, if it does then why don't they also complain about every other device as well? The only devices where the screen is flush is when the entire front is glass i.e. GS 3, GS 4, nexus 4 etc.
You also have to remember, most people only ever post the bad things online (plus a lot of the stuff has been "faked" too, remember Samsung have been paying people to trash talk the HTC one???), hardly anyone comments/posts if they have a perfect/good unit.

EDIT:
And for the record, I have intention of buying a HTC one, in fact, I am very strongly considering buying the GS 4 at the minute as "for me", it is a better device overall now (due to the extra MP since I am editing my photos a lot now, SAMOLED screen, easy to root and flash stuff etc.)
