***The Official HTC One Thread***

Hi All,

I just upgraded from an S3 to an HTC ONE and I'm loving it, big performance boost, great phone, great screen and fantastic speakers.

The one issue I have is that after only a day of using the phone and placing it down on a table a few times the camera lense has started picking up scratches...

It does look quite exposed due to the central and raised position.

Has anyone else had a problem with the lense getting scratched?

No probs with mine but I have a 'skin' on it which affords some protection to the camera lens. Just a cheapie off t'internet supplier of choice. I have an Otterbox Commuter but it bulked the phone up somewhat and made it sticky sliding in and out of my pocket. A cheap skin and one of those glass screen protectors and it's good to go. The naked One I find just a little bit to slippery for comfort and was nearly dropped a few times.

I've got a blue htc One so when it came to cases I didn't want to hide away the lovely case. I've used the official htc tpu clear case, it adds no (or very little) bulk and ensures the camera lens clears any surface by a good mm or so. I've also used the Spigen glass screen protector after dropping my previous silver One, ended up with a nice straight crack across the bottom of the screen :(

Some of my apps started having the 3 Dot menu appear at the bottom again, but once rebooted it hasn't came back. Reminds me how annoying the thing was. :(

So how is everyone getting on with their HTC One? I've been a serial phone swapper over the last few years but happy to say I'm still delighted with it 8 months on :) Should be the first phone of mines to see over a year in who knows how long!

I do enjoy using it. Its very quick, has a rather decent battery life, signal quality, etc.

Only things what are annoying me is how long it can take for emails to come through (and how much battery is used if I take it off smartsync), some little niggles with Android OS and how my (current) headphones sound compared to my iPad mini.

Apart from that, build quality is still excellent, phone speakers are still brilliant, good call quality, quick snaps on the camera, etc.

Do like it (IMO, best phone available), but will trade it for a larger iPhone. :p

Generally still pleased with mine, although there have been software issues occasionally since the last update. From time-to-time, the phone can freeze, and need a reset - there haven't been any 'new' apps added, but something is not playing nice with it.
Most of the time, however, I really like the HO still - great phone, but upgrade fever is starting to hover now. Mind you, I have had this since April, so this is not too early IMHO :p

I am confused that the capacitive buttons arent lit when i want them to be (e.g. browsing chrome) but will be lit when i dont want them to be e.g. netflix full screen viewing

My phone really struggles to use wifi continuously and a short while into video or browsing i have to disable wifi and rely on 3g?!

Volume gradations far too coarse, i find the keyboard hihghly inaccurate ive never made so many typos!

Otherwise like it and the camera is good

I think once the HTC....Two :p Begins to surface I'll end up getting the upgrade itch but I have a feeling that my next phone will be a straight up Nexus 5 or whatever ends up replacing it.

I am getting to the stage now that I can't keep my phone suffocated in it's case any longer :D

I've had mine since March and I still think it's the best phone I've owned.

In ARHD 41.0 with Elemental x.

Smooth as butter, no crashes, no wi fi problems. Great!

I did have the problem with the camera purple tint a few times but in the end HTC sent me a brand new phone which has been good as gold since.

They're usually lit when the room is quite dim, if you're in a very well lit place then the lights on the buttons stay off. Personally I have had no problems with mine.

As for your wifi problem have you tested this with other video apps (maybe stream from your PC to ensure it's the wifi and not the internet) or other devices?

I suggest trying Google keyboard or if you don't mind paying Swiftkey or Swype, should get less typos with these.

Im looking to get a new phone, my 4s is dying and I want a change.

Would it be worth getting hold of a HTC one now? Or should I hold out for the new HTC one M8.

I cant imagine the price difference will be huge

I have a couple of odd issues of late. Wondering if anyone else has them...

Occasionally my phone will say "No SIM Card" and I'll need to either enable airplane mode and disable it for it to recognise the SIM again, which doesn't always work, restart my phone or just remove the SIM and put it back in again. Very odd.

Also, sometimes when I'm listening to music the track will just stop, almost as if something has interrupted the service or something. Happens no matter what app is use to listen to music.

Any ideas, wise OcUKers?

You've answered your own question right there. If the price difference is next to nothing it makes sense to wait it out.

I have had the no sim card before but that was on a old Android/Sense firmware. I haven't had the issue since. Although I have been using Google Play & Paranoid android for a quite a while now.

I had a feeling it might be firmware related. I'm on ARHD. Might flash something new.

Any chance you are using a KK build of ARHD? Cause come to think of it I had the music cutting out on one of the early KK Google play ROMs from there. But I put it down to xposed framework & gravity box.
