***The Official HTC One Thread***

So whats happened to 4.4 I thought we were supposed to be having it by the end of Jan. It's a bit disappointing to read that it seems to be appearing in parts of Europe but nothing in the UK.
I've got a sim free One and still nothing :(
Come on htc pull your finger out.

Will be 1 to 2 weeks max

This is the most up to date information. It's due to start rolling out 'from' the end of Jan, not 'at' the end. Stay tuned!

So who knows what that means :p!

Thanks for the info all. As my CID is htc 001 I guess I've got a bit of a wait, on the up side we get to see what faults 4.4 comes with.

Has anyone heard if 4.4 is good or bad for htc one yet?

Only thing ive heard so far really is from this video

From the really long XDA thread:

1) Better/smaller RAM usage
2) Battery bug fixed (Apparently some were getting a bug where it dropped from 100% straight to 97% after charge)
3) Translucent bar now uses KK's default one, so third party launchers can take advantage of it without root.
4) Snappier (placebo?)
5) More location service control
6) Cloud print
7) T9 layout is back on the HTC keyboard

Only bad thing so far is a wifi problem which seems to be appearing for some users but should be fixed with an update if it does affect everyone. Other then that, Sense 5.5 is pretty much the same as on 4.3. ART is disabled however, probably due to Sense 5.5 not being compatible.

Im weary of updating straight away after the mess that Samsung made with my S3 when I went to 4.3, terrible battery life even with 3000mah battery, phone got too hot to touch and was incredibly laggy and slow! Also couldn't view my gallery pictures or share them as it would instantly crash.

I will wait it out until it comes to my phone and then make a decision once others have seen what its like.

Well considering the HO started off with 4.1.2, then 4.2.2, then 4.3, there's been no major problems unlike the S3/S2. 4.4 with the US developer model has had no problems either.

Almost forgot immersion mode in that list. Swiping down for the notification bar while in a full screen app is really handy, and I've been using it quite a bit on my Nexus 10.

Ive been running with the official update since last Thursday, they pushed it out here early in Denmark it seems, via Telia and the handset is unbranded. Fire any questions you have my way & i'll try my best to answer them.

Matt.

Hey Smudge, can you confirm you can get transparent notification bars with a launcher without root?

That's the one thing I'm looking forward to the most.

Thanks

I remember asking this in XDA and they confirmed it. I'm curious to know what it looks like with Nova though so... screenshot please :)?

Tired of waiting, the 4.3 battery drain was annoying so S-OFFed with firewater, changed CID & downloading the update now.

Got fed up as well. Used firewater, didn't want to unlock the bootloader via HTC dev as that'll wipe everything so the temp root helped. Changed to HTC__032, then checked for updates and boom.

Poweramp stopped working after a while, but I find an odd fix. I used ES File Explorer to go to my music folder, picked a music file, and opened it with Poweramp. After that Poweramp worked fine...

And to answer the transparent bar question, it works with 3rd party launchers, and looks exactly like the one in the stock Sense launcher (which I prefer over the Nexus one to be honest).

EDIT: I spoke too soon. Locked the device with no music playing and then unlocking brings back the Poweramp problem. Checking the Poweramp forum it seems it's a common problem with the HO on 4.4.2. Guess I need to wait for a fix then...

Tried updating again from 4.1.2 to 4.4.2 via ARHD custom ROM. Bluetooth is still broken on my BMW E46. Reverted back.

Highly annoying so will either have to live with it, or buy a new bluetooth module which isn't guaranteed to resolve the problem.

Hmm, first time playing around with all this. Managed to use firewater and then to change the cid to HTC__032 but it still says no update found
