***The Official HTC One Thread***

VODAP001 I think

Vodafone's firmware is actually different from the stock international HTC firmware, hence why it's not updating. You need to change your ROM to the international one, but that will wipe your user data.

And I almost created a mess trying to relock the bootloader and S-On to return to full stock. A note for those rooting... Windows 8.1 doesn't play nice, but Windows 7 does.

Hmm don't want to wipe everything so I'll hang fire. Put CID back to what it was and will wait for proper update i think.

S-off is showing on fast boot so much have done something right with all my messing around.

Your bootloader gets unlocked too. The OTA still works however.

At least your phone is ready for custom ROMs when HTC drops support for this phone :p.

Loving this incipio cf case so far. Best case I have had. Pretty sure its not real carbon but it looks good

Has kept my phone in mint condition so far.

Its usually the drivers that stop it playing nice but I noticed I had more problems when I was on hboot 1.44, It works perfectly fine with hboot 1.55.

Any forummers here help me? I've just bought a second hand HTC one but its on o2 and I need it on Vodafone so is it possible to unlock myself? Also any foolproof guides for rooting and putting a vanilla firmware on (and advice on which firmware to use).
I just want a fast bloat free experience.

I don't think there's currently a way to network unlock it for free via root. Have you tried your Vodafone SIM inside just to make sure it's not locked though?

As for converting your phone to a normal unlocked model, follow this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2358738

That guide will contain a link to all the firmwares avaliable for every HO model. You'll want to change the CID to HTC__001 (double _). You also need to flash the hboot to 1.44 first in order to run the RUU. Firewater is a nice and quick easy way to S-OFF and unlock the bootloader.

RUU: http://www.htc1guru.com/dld/ruu_m7_...1-27_10-31-1131-05_release_310878_signed-exe/

hboot: http://www.htc1guru.com/dld/1-29-401-12_hboot_1-44-zip/

Wow thanks for that looks like it might be a bit more complicated than I thought!
The terms CID and RUU are new to me I'm gonna need to do some research!

I don't know what the acronyms stand for but CID is like your carrier label. HTC__001 is basically factory unlocked (not linked to a network, mine was HTC__H3G originally - for the three network). RUU you is like a reset executable for your phone. It will automatically downgrade/upgrade firmware and flash a stock ROM.

Wrapped up in a Incipio CF case and a Spigen tempered glass screen protector.

Sorry to bring up an old post, but does the screen protector butt up against the edges of the Incipio case, or go under them?

Looking to get the same combo for my One in a few days, although I might go for the grey/silver CF case instead.

Depends which protector you get.

the case has rubber edge that goes over the top of the screen protector after some fiddling, but thats with the spigen glas.t tempered glass protector which had straight cut edges which felt sharp!

I got the spigen glas.tr screen protector on now which has beveled edges and its fantastic, so smooth, like really silky smooth and the rounded edges are just excellent! well worth the extra £1. its a pricey screen protector but its as close the the original screen as you can get imo.

With that one on the case fits perfectly.

Now updating to 4.4! hope it works as nicely as 4.3 does.

I was looking at the Spigen Glas.tr too, but ended up going with the iLoome Screenmate Flex - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rEYK0620vbg

If it's no use I'll try the Spigen next.

The Spigen gets my vote, fits great, has lovely beveled edges and feels so smooth.
Only wish I'd had one on my previous silver One, I managed to drop it and crack the screen, until that point I'd said it's ok it's got Gorilla glass :(

Jelly Beans and KitKats... UK finally getting KK tomorrow? It's been more than 2 weeks...

Anyway, after running 4.4.2 for a week, there's not really any major differences since it's still the same Sense 5.5. There was a test build of Poweramp which fixed the problem I had earlier, and thens released on the Play store a little later. Very quick response from the developer.

Im confused as to what you mean? 4.4.2 is kk isn't it? or hasnt it been completely rolled out in the UK on all carriers?
