*** The official HTC One X thread ***

its the screen that hammers the battery not the data usage

So if you leave you're phone on a table for 12 hours, no battery is used?

In testing on other phones, battery can go down twice as quick when on mobile data instead of WiFi.

In fact, I recall some phones would drop 4% an hour on data, 1% on WiFi...

Yes, screen is a big drain, but data is pretty big too.

I've had two instances of leaving the phone alone, in standby, with everything on: about 8 hours and 6 hours. In both cases the battery percentage meter did not drop. Now maybe the battery meter isn't very accurate, but I was pretty impressed.

In addition, I find my WiFi uses far more battery than 3G, using WPA 802.11g. I have no idea if I have a lot of apps (with background data) compared to others but I do have 3 IMAP push email accounts and one Exchange push email account.

If only the screen was as thrifty as the rest of the phone!! Some interesting chat over at XDA suggesting the power management of the graphics system is the culprit rather than the LCD itself, so maybe further updates/customisation/ROMs will improve this.

Must say 1.29 definitely seems to have helped battery :)

Unplugged at 7:35am and down to 91% - that's with over an hour of poweramp on full volume and some texting / web browsing :)

On 1.28 I would be on low 80's easily by now!

Really annoying that people are getting 1.29 and I'm still on 1.26 with O2

Anyone on O2 had any updates?? Or is there a way for me to install an update myself??

Would really like the improved battery life lol

I'm on 1.28.161.9 on a Vodafone contract.
I guess some networks are quicker at Quality Checking updates before allowing them on the network.
Vodafone used to be really slow, I used to get Desire updates a lot later than everyone else.
Do O2 have any support forums where the question could be asked?

1.29 isn't out in the UK yet on any networks/sim free - only way to get it, is custom rom :)

Screen on time FYI is currently 25 minutes.

Will report back later :D

You can download the full RUU and install it on a stock phone as that's what I've done.... Been on 1.29 for a few days now, only thing is that it wipes your apps etc etc.

The RUU needs to match the CID of the phone though I believe or it won't flash.

Question about DropBox: it doesn't work as I expected, i.e. working as a service in the background syncing your DropBox folder like it does in a desktop OS. It seems to rely on Android app integration (i.e. 'send to Dropbox', share via 'Dropbox', 'open...from Dropbox').

So a weird question: can you give me examples of what you use Dropbox on your HOX for and why it is great?? At the moment all I see me using it for is automatic backup of photos (and videos) from the camera.

Yeah that is probably the case.

Ermmm I have never looked for an O2 support forum but I will have a look :)

It should sync automatically, is it auto sync turned on in the Android option? Or maybe it's set to only sync when connected to WiFi.

I got an update recently, thought it was 1.29 but nope its 1.28. The update defo improved my battery life. I reckon the next 6 months or so with custom roms/HTC updates the battery life on this phone will rock.

Very happy with it.

On the lock screen, can you change the quick access icons?

Begbie, I think the icons displayed mirror what you have on the static quick launch bar at the bottom of the homescreens?

Is anyone else getting really bad input lag during pin code entry at the unlock screen. I tap out my four numbers fairly quickly, and I know they are being registered, as I get 4 vibrates. However, the actual text field lags behind and only displays three dots, as the last number is always missed off, due to lag?!

Highly annoying :(

When I put my phone down on surfaces, I'm always going to be putting it face down from now on instead of back down. My camera glass cover has a full width scratch along the bottom left area....

Wouldn't that be worse for scratches?

No because the screen is Gorilla Glass while the camera cover glass is cheap stuff.
