*** The official HTC One X thread ***

Just installed the flipboard app from the other thread that you gave Robbo...seems like a nice news app.

One thing that kind of annoys me about the browser on the One X is that when i open it up, i find it difficult to get the address bar to show...it seems like it just opens up in a fullscreen layout. I know if you flip your handset to the side and press on the screen you get a wheel of sorts that allows to you to choose your bookmarks etc. But is there a setting that i need to change so that my web browser doesnt always open in full screen mode??

Also in the portrait mode, you cant seem to get the wheel up, no matter how much pressing fo the screen you do.

~Arghhhhhh its bloody annoying me and i cant see anywhere where you can adjust from full screen ot smaller screen

Yeah, it's the same for the tab/etc buttons at the bottom, sometimes they take a few 'wiggles/gestures' of the screen to appear.

Basically when it's done loading, flick up and then down and they should appear, helps to be zoomed out too.

That side wheel thing is an ICS feature, I can get it up in portrait mode.

Make sure it's enabled in Settings > Labs, I know it's working for you but maybe it works in portrait even if disabled. Who knows! :p

I didn't actually know about it until you mentioned it as I didn't think HTC would include it, so thanks! Easier than the unreliable top and bottom buttons.

LOL highly annoying as it seems the wagon wheel only seems to work in landscape mode but not in portrait mode.

And no amount of flicking up or down in portrait mode will bring up the address bar or settings menu...only way i can get it is hit the menu button before the website or homepage loads up otherwise it takes up the whole screen :/

Right looks like the side wheel does work in portrait mode as well but its a bit tempremental ie looks like you have to keep your thumb on the edge of the screen...so far i can only get it working on the left side of the screen but wotn work for the right side of the screen.

Checked my lab settings and its enabled there.

On the topic of the next OTA, it should be due in a few days to fix the messaging bug and with other general improvements as well. This is only affecting a few phones, and mine is fine.

Another update, what the xxxx?!?! what about the S and all the issues that quite a few people seem to be having, which are pretty serious such as the signal?

I personally find the quick ICS browser control pretty poor in the hTC browser, have to touch the very edge of the screen to get it to show.

ICS browser+ is better than stock sense browser IMO, should give it a try. Quicker at loading and rendering web pages for me plus much better quick wheel control access :)

Ill give that a try, the stock browser is pretty buggy for me at the moment and like you said you have to press the screen at the edge in order to get the wheel up.

EDIT: Muchos Gracias Nexus, just installed ICS browser and much much better than the stock browser. At least with this one when i swipe down i get the menu and address bar lol. Cheers dude.

No problem :)

Yeah the wheel is a temperamental! I guess that's why it's under 'Labs'! :p

What is the signal issue with the One S?

Most likely! :p

I haven't experienced it myself personally, but quite a lot of people on XDA and richy88 here IIRC are experiencing problems with the data connection changing constantly from 3G to H and so on, making the internet unusable and a weaker voice signal/reception than there previous mobiles again in richy's case, he said his motorola had stronger signal where as his S drops out sometimes and only gets a few bars.

And then apparently wifi dropping out every now and again, I have only experienced this once. And some issue with wifi calling, can't comment on this as I have and will probably never use it :p

Some say that the multi-tasking is poor and that the memory allocation isn't allocated properly (see what I did there :p :o), again I haven't experienced this problem, there are times when I switch from a game to the browser where the browser seems to reload (but still on the same page) but I think that is normal.......

I like the stock sense browser but as posted in the last few posts :p it is a bit buggy so ICS browser + is my choice of browser as well as a few others :)

Dolphin is great for features but ugly looking UI IMO and not very sleek overall and I just didn't get on with chrome one bit at all.

You've probably got 2 contacts linked and it's showing you the number for some reason, I had this as I have a few duplicate contacts with different information on. Just fiddle with the link settings for them and tidy them up a bit and that should fix it.

Thanks, will play around with the settings, noticed some names come up but some still don't. I think you are right with the linking settings as I had played around with them.
