*** The official HTC One X thread ***

Bad news for the rooting/modding crowd... seems HTC are taking a harsh line on warranty replacements for phones with unlocked bootloaders:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1631610

Pretty ridiculous tbh and apparently it's against the law. They can't flat out decline to repair a phone unless they can prove the damage was caused by running a custom ROM. Not very impressed.

I don't think Samsung accept phones back for repair that have modded roms on either, and I'm fairly sure Apple will not fix a jailbroken iphone.

Not sure what the problem is tbqfh.

HTC have a long history of accepting phones back that have been modded. Their original statement with the Nexus One was that fiddling with the software only invalidated the software warranty, not the hardware warranty. It's only recently that they've changed this policy.

On one hand, with their HTC Dev site, they embrace the community, and on the other hand, with this policy change, they shun us. I think it's a bad idea to be so bullish to one of your most important market segments (early adopters/evangelists).

As for Apple, they've always hated anyone doing anything vaguely unorthodox with their phones.

Hi guys,

I've got 3 months left on my contract and want to see if Orange will buy me out.

Would I be best to ring Orange or mobiles.co.uk to talk about this?

Also, why is 3's service plan so much cheaper for what they are offering?

Basically, I want 750MB Data, unlimited text and 400 minutes. I don't want to pay more than £30!

Also, does anyone here get anything other than 24 month contracts?

Can you not just wait two months?

So, I logged into my T-Mo portal, and checked the upgrades section. I am on a £7.50pm contract (upped to £12.50 as I needed more minutes), and I am not due an upgrade until August 2012, technically.

This happens...

GIEF.

Went to pick one up at CPWH, and had to pay £30 rather than £20 (because T-Mo did not have it in white, which I wanted, and the CPWH ones are unlocked, vs. T-Mo locked handsets).

HAPPY :D

Also, I thought that would extended the contract to August 2014 - i.e. two more years after the end of the existing contract. However, my T-Mo portal now says "your contract is due for renewal in February 2014"?!

Unsure what has happened there, but won't be complaining!!! :D

How long have you been with T-mobile?

Just looked on the left side (looking at the screen side) of my phone & it looks like my screen is starting to peel off, from what I can see it looks like some double sided tape type material that is letting the screen lift up, I can press it back down but it only stays there a few seconds.

It is tiny right now but I've only had it a couple of weeks......I think it will be going back very soon.

Hmm, or the build quality... o_O

I've been pushed software version 1.28 whilst setting up my phone, but is there anyway to "force pull" 1.29? It is not being flagged up when I check manually...

Nope, unlocking the bootloader just means you can install custom ROMs (to a certain degree). Network unlocking is impossible until HTC (or someone else) releases a script to turn S-OFF, which unlocks the NAND portion of the device :)

Cheers reflux.

A quick note to all of those out there like myself who dont wanna install custom ROMs etc. If you go into settings and then into applications you can actually disable apps, so all that irritating **** that comes pre-installed on your phone you can remove from yours apps list and stop from running. Sure it would be nicer to get rid of it but at least it gets it out of your face.

Probably way behind the times here, but I just found it this morning.

The update has done a good job of helping the battery!

74% Not charging
9h 52mins
56mins on screen.

Been texting all day, few phone calls, little web browsing and some drawsome.

Not bad at all. Would quite clearly last all day tomorrow if I keep to the same usage.

How do you take screenshots?

Got it -
