*** The official HTC One X thread ***

Ah it says 3 days. Hopefully it'll come through soon. Thanks for all your help guys (especially Robbo) Bye bye HTC Desire, HAI One X

Yeah can be a few days, and months till the credit appears.

Btw, just ordered a white one myself to replace an end of contract HTC Desire (£62 recycled). The GS3 just didn't seem worth the extra imo.

It could be 5 hours for video...... for all we know they could have been playing/looping a video that doesn't have many bright colours and has a lot of black/dark scenes and as we both know, AMOLED screens consume very little/no power whatsoever on dark/black colours.

It could also be the optimised TouchWIZ framework and the hardware decoding. One thing Samsung's TW overlay does better than most is multimedia playback.;)

Yes, that most likely plays a part (though perhaps not 5 hours worth).

HTC/Nvidia seem to have some really badly optimised software going on at the moment. Still, I'll give them a chance to improve it.

I'm all for TouchWiz, it's just a shame it's so ugly. They've missed a trick with the design of it.

Well yeah, I think everyone agrees that the visual aspect of it could do with a make over as it's pretty unattractive compared to other interfaces BUT the entire package.... all that TouchWIZ does... is pretty neat.

Hey,

What do you mean by this?

Well, the drivers seem to be controlling the chipset/CPU incorrectly in most situations which could result in battery life problems and performance issues.

Aside from that I'm not exactly sure, but there is a lot of talk about it on XDA.

Updates should fix/improve it!

Ok that's good to know - could future updates also narrow the gap to the S4-powered devices like the One S (which seems to beat the One X in a lot of synthetic benchies). How does the One X perform vs. other Tegra 3 devices? The only I know of is the Asus T-Prime...

I'm not sure against the Transformer Prime.

It could indeed narrow such a gap, perhaps not by an awful lot but we'll have to wait and see, there is further work to be done, that's for sure. One S cores are quicker though, despite it having half as many. There's no getting around that, but if the X cores were utilised more effectively, it could bring the benchmark differences closer together.

Ok that's cool... it honestly doesn't bother me much; call me a shallow noob, but the One X looks & feels way nicer than anything else out right now.

Baller

Agreed, it has to be white!

Any of these benchmarks differences are just that - benchmarks, the 'real world' differences are going to be negligible to non-existent really.

Optimisation could help though (with fluidity and battery life), if done right. By fluidity I mean the occasional stuttering in HTC Sense when you scroll around, which is not a phone issue, but a software related optimisation issue. Most people probably don't even notice it, but I do! :p

After saying that I didn't want a phone this size and was going to get the S the Phones4U deal swung it for me an purchased it yesterday morning. This morning Mr Postman drops off my One X! Fast delivery!

Anyone else's Vodafone Sim not working though? Am I being think, how do I activate it?

Thanks

No I definitely notice this as well - hope it's something that they iron out quickly. The most annoying is when I get lag typing my PIN on the lock screen!

I do feel this phone is quite big... does not feel secure when I use it one-handed vs. my old Nexus S. And I get an ache in my little finger when holding on to it for a sustained period (I'm cupping the bottom with it to make it feel more secure, I think).

Hello arthritis when I get older :(

Has anyone noticed that when you play music using the built in music app that you get stuttering... this gets solved after a reboot of the phone. It's like something is hogging the resources... I had the exact same problem with the HTC Sensation.

yea i get this sometimes. like playing a scratched music cd LOL

SRSLY? The HOX stumbles on music playback? Considering it's a Beats handset HTC better get that fixed asap or it could be a bit embarrassing. I assume it's not a really widespread issue as not many have brought it up.
