*** The official HTC One X thread ***

Is it really that bad that it needs binning? Have you got a picture of it? Don't want you to think I have a potential fix or anything, just interested in seeing it, to see how badly gorilla glass can get scratched

Yeah I will take a picture tomorrow when I get home from work, as it's a bit late to pull the camera out.

Jesus, I've had my phone for over 2 years and it has 1 tiny scratch in 1 corner of it (Not even on the viewing area of the screen), never had a screen protector on it.

What do some people do with their phones?

I'm not having much luck getting a good One X handset, I think today I got my 8th or 9th and this one also has problems. The volume down button is sunk into the side of the phone (really have to push hard to get it to respond, no click or anything either) and it has some flickering pixels, with a yellow spot in the bottom left hand corner.

The others had assorted problems like dead pixels, dust and marks under the glass, yellow smudges near the top of the screen, cracks in the back of the phone.

I think the Carphone Warehouse shops near me have a bunch of bad ones in stock or something.

Really not having much luck at all!

You really have had back luck had mine on launch day and its been faultless in every way, not had one issue I hope you get a good one soon.

I've got an orange/yellowish burn spot in the lower left corner of my screen, which isn't getting any worse but still annoying none the less. I bought from mobiles.co.uk, but can I assume I can take it in to a CPW?

HTC Desire for 2 years. Scratch free. The key thing for me is never to have ANYTHING in the same pocket as a touchscreen phone. Gonna be the same for the One X. It sits all alone in any pocket I put it in. :)

Common things such as keys and coins are fine, they wont scratch your toughened glass. Even if you forcefully try as they do in some videos, it's scientifically impossible!

Just don't take it to the beach :)

It's fine grit and such that scratch. Depends on the environment you work/play in but Gorilla glass will scratch. I had two fine scratches on my One S in first couple of days before I got something to protect the glass. It's been argued to death but personally would rather chuck a screen protector and replace rather than have to live with scratched glass face of smartphone. Luckily I had to exchange my One S so better care was taken of replacement. Unfortunately it's on it's way back to HTC today.

Desire has a lip though and thus the screen is protected, on the X the screen is completely exposed when face down as there's no bezel or lip protecting it like on other phones.

I applied the official HTC one S screen protector earlier on there and I am very impressed so far, was not expecting to like it at all especially for about £3!

Apart from 2 bits of dust underneath (which is only on the side and on the home button) and 2 air bubbles on the top left (both aren't even that noticeable unless you are looking at the screen from a certain angle and in strong lighting), you wouldn't even realise that there was one on in the first place, the colours and touch screen sensitivity is exactly the same, well to me anyway. The only thing is the feel, it is more of a plastic feel now instead of glass, obviously :p

So guys, two questions. How much money will I get for my HTC desire? I've still got the origional box.

2.Where's the best place to sell it? Ebay or just recycle it on a website?

I'd just take the £60~ the recycling sites will give you. I can't see you getting much more on eBay, perhaps £80-100 if you're lucky.

O2 seems good, they don't cut the value with wear and tear. Oh and you can get a bit more if you go through TCB or Quidco.

Getting a bit concerned now, everywhere I look I see reports of people complaining about multiple dodgy handsets. Amazon have even stopped selling the white one.
