*** The official HTC One X thread ***

Well I got one on the phones4u vodafone 12 month deal. Love the phone and everything is fine so far. Used Top cashback, which was tracking the cashback within a day or two.

Interestingly I downloaded the "my vodafone" app today. My texts show as unlimited and I have unlimited data for 3 months of data test drive. The deal was 300 mins, 3000 texts and 500mb of data.

3000 texts is vodafones definition of unlimited texts.

Odd question but roughly how long does an update take?

I got the phone today so I guess it's just going to the most recent version but I didn't really think it through, I'm meant to be going out in a bit and it's still updating :/.

Updates haven't taken long for me. 10 to 20 minutes at a guess. Didn't you update it on the phone? Can't you just take it with you?

Only issue I have with this phone is it keeps saying no signal. Then a while later I get a message about preparing sim card and signal is back.

I'm not sure, it's on the screen with the green update icon and has been for about 30mins now. Is it still connected to the internet when on this screen because it is on the home wifi and I don't want to interrupt anything.

I feel like a right noob :p.

Not flashed a android phone before, can you just flash it as in uploading a programme or is it a lot more involved.

Thanks
This is all I had to do. Install HTCSync and download RUU, charge over 30% (+50%). Turn off fastboot in power>settings, turn off phone, turn on phone holding volume down button. Press power button in boot menu to get into FASTBOOT. Plug it to the PC, watch the USB drivers load, make sure it's recognised. Start the RUU exe, it'll check the phone version etc, follow instructions and wait ten minutes. That's it.

How long before .11 is released OTA?

Where can the RUU be downloaded from?
Could be a couple of weeks?

Thanks but I don't want apps getting wiped, also I haven't had the no signal issue again (not that I have noticed), so I will leave it for now :)
For reference, there's apps that will restore all your installed apps without need for a root. The RUU doesn't touch the data, so you can be back up and running very quickly. Update and restore in 20mins start to finish...

S4 Snapdragon battery life compared to Tegra 3.

Forget about the talk time. Different countries, signal strengths and radio standards etc but the web browsing and video playback should be consistent. Unless HTC have tweaked the brightness settings at 50%?
Even with the extra 200mAh that's quite a big difference, goes to show what that awesome screen can do  (nVidia need a 28nm Tegra SoC asap, preferably with a Keplar GPU, proper memory bandwidth and A15 cores :D)

Thanks, I've just read it will wipe the settings and apps, maybe I'll leave it for a OTA, that way I won't have to reinstall everything.

Anyone have a link for a decent screen protector, all ones i've come across are either too small or don't even stick to the phone.

I also just purchased a Case-Mate Barely There case in glossy white for £15. This is the most i've paid for a case but it's worth the money if you want to protect your phone unlike the cheap gel cases. Has all the cut outs the right size, but doesn't cover the top or bottom of the phone, only the corners. Though the glossy white may not suit everyone, I might change it to the black myself as it looks a bit too plasticky for my liking.
