*** The official HTC One X thread ***

Rooting is dead easy, but does completely throw the warranty out of the window as it has to be done via HTC Dev.

I'm running latest CM9 with the Franco kernel and it's rather nice I have to say :)

Hmm... Samsung had a booth in Westfield mall, and I just had a play with the SGS3...

UI is a *lot* smoother than on my One X (played with them side by side). It feels really nice in the hand as well, despite it being plasticky...

HTC better sort out the software soon... I have buyer's remorse already!!

:(

Glad I've held off for a few weeks, was due an upgrade 08 may but was humming and harring, especially as i just bought a class 10 32gb card for my sensation

Yeah, that's due to HTC's software being a bodge where as Samsung's is very well optimised in comparison.

It's quite unacceptable that there's any judder or animation lag on a phone with the power of the One X, but they'll likely get it sorted out.

However, I'm using Apex Launcher and the entire phone is 100% smooth everywhere. I prefer Sense but I'm not using it due to the above problems! :p

I don't know if it was just me being a bit "I want that one", screen seemed nicer too (but then, I'm a self-confessed AMOLED fanboi!).

I would definitely try them both in store, side-by-side, before buying...

Well, if you like AMOLED then you'll probably find it to be better.

There were loads! Probably 10-15 reps..

I think they had about 8 Notes, and 10 SGS3 on display tables, plus more floating around in reps' hands.

Didn't check colours... I'm not a girl :p

Go check it out :)

I'm camping right outside westfield :D

I'll check it out 2moro - cheers

Think it was blue... I was too horrified at how much better the UI was than my One X to pay attention to anything else :(

One annoyance though - the hard home key is really horrible. And generally the bottom lip of the SGS3 is a bit cramped for my liking.

The kiosk/display is on the lower level, in the massive open space between the two quads.

That huge of a difference, huh?

Stick Apex Launcher on for a minute and see what you think to the smoothness of that (I know you shouldn't have to but it demonstrates the issue with HTC's launcher).
