*** The official HTC One X thread ***

Might need to try an new rom, the maximus rom is giving me some strange behaviors these past few days.

The battery life has taken a bit of a nose dive and the phones smoothness and response has been shocking to the extreme. i dont know why.

what could be the issue? too many apps installed? syncing too manny emails? i tried multiple reboots onmy phone but still very slugglish and slow

assuming that was replying to me? I read elsewhere that it was simply the battery running out even though it was charging while i was updating the firmware and didn't leave itself enough charge to switch itself back on

All sorted now though :)

Yeah that sounds pretty similar to some of the people having problems with signal on the S, some also experience the constant switching between G, 3G and H connection.

One guy has it pretty bad, where his signal cuts out an awful lot and can have around 30-70% no signal, however, with his defy + and the same SIM, it apparently has a strong consistent signal all the time. However, he got a GS 2 and it appears to be worse than the S

That guy is me Oliver. One S has about done my head in  I have an old Motorola Defy+ and with same Three sim in it gets sound signal and no drops. Sometimes my One S has as much as 70% of time without signal in battery stats. So I bought a s/h Samsung GS2 and it's worse than the One S. Has about same level of signal reception but drops connection (emergency call only) more often .... and they said there's be no prob with that phone. This is all out in the country where masts are thinner on the ground. In town/city both phones were fine.

So I bought a One X last week as there seemed to be little grumbling on the subject. It does do better. 2 to 3 bars in the house and often full bars (around -79dBm) around the yard though varies. What I do get are the occasional signal drops like has been described on this thread. Not a major issue at all but noticeable. Oftentimes it'll connect itself quickly but sometimes it needs a reboot?

To sum up the X has stronger Three signal reception than the One S for me ... which is just as well

I will say that although I live in the sticks we have a mast local to us with good LOS. Motorola has good signal reception both indoors and out though One X is on a par with it outside most of the time. I led to believe Motorola's experience in global communications gives them a good edge when designing phone antenna. Got to say I considered a Razr Maxx but experience of Moto support kind of put me off. The Defy+ had terrible rebooting issues and all Moto would say was swap the sim card. Made no difference. I Loaded an ICS rom onto it recently and has never rebooted since. All that said the Defy is old and slow and small in present company and screen is to dim on bright days to be useable but is splash and dust proof :p

I like the One X - except the Invisible Shield from Zagg I bought at the same time. Whoever called it invisible plainly had bad eyesight? I'm in the process of selling the GS2 to one of the recyclers (£216 offered). I should probably move the One S on too as given the choice I'd have to go with the X. If signal reception was equal and I'd not had such probs then I would stick with the S.

I've unlocked and rooted the One X and flashed a mod to get rid of 3 dot menu and remap the buttons for a menu. All works fine. Did a nandroid backup after rooting of course. Reasonably happy with stock and sense 4 so not sure weather to flash a custom rom or not though always open to suggestion :D

Interesting stuff, thanks.

I've been keeping an eye on mine today. I've had numerous notifications telling me the phone is in 'Emergency Only' modr, but mainly when driving around. Given that and the fact it happens in low reception areas I think it happens when switching masts. I don't get anything on screen other than this app I installed. You wouldn't know it's happening. All odd.

Does anyone know of a longer USB cable for this phone that I could use to charge it? If I charge my phone in the bedroom it doesn't reach the bed and this is annoying if I want to use my phone when the battery is dead. There are the usual cheap ones on the bay, but someone (can't remember if it was on here) said you shouldn't use these.

Thanks

Hi all.

Bought a TPU Gel Skin Case by Qubits (I think) off the rainforest site.

Fits pretty well and affords good protection around the edges. Only downside is it make the power button very sensitive and finding phone being switched on in my pocket. It may stretch a little and power button become less sensitive. Without the skin the power button is fine.

Anyone any recommendations for other similar skin/cases?

Another really irritating problem I'm having is that some texts don't come through for ages, but then display the time they should have when they come through, making people think I'm ignoring them. Anyone else get this or suggest a fix?

Does anyone rekon it'd be worth spending 150 quid on a HTC One X? The only problem with it is it won't make calls or texts but everything else works, wondering if it's a software problem and easily fixable?

I'd need a lot more information than that before considering whether it's worth £150 or not. If it's nicked and blacklisted then it's pretty worthless.

If it won't text or make calls it's being denied network access or has incorrect APN settings.

If it's Gumtree I'm betting the former and the seller is lying.

Standard fare for Gumtree.

Not been keeping a very good eye on this thread.

Was wondering if anybody has experienced the mobile data connection not working when going off wifi? I have to restart my phone to get it working again.
