*** The official HTC One X thread ***

Think this will be my upgrade in July.

I do hate plastic on phones nowadays but I think the days of the Desire builds are over sadly. Will keep the desire just to show people in 10 years time how proper smart phone was made.

What with it's almost entirely plastic build with only an easily scratched metal fascia over the front?

Maybe but it feels solid, is solid. Unlike the Samsung phones that feel like they've fallen out of a Christmas cracker.

One of the complaints about HTC phones was the weight, so it's hardly suprising they are doing what the rest of the competition is doing and using plastic.

Hence what I said about build qualilty.

Upgrade due in April, I also have a Desire just now which is showing it's age.

I'm going to wait to see what the SIII has to offer but in all honesty I didn't like the SII all that much, yeah yeah phone of the year etc but it was far too light for me, I did quite like the Sensation but maybe because it had that extra weight that this new HTC is losing.......ahhhhh confuzzled again.

I too have a launch day Desire, so have enjoyed AMOLED display. My contract is now all over, so I'm potentially looking for something new.
So, according to the HTC website we've got:

One X
One XL
One S
One V

So, what is the main difference between all of these? More importantly to me, which of these are "plastic" and which of these are made of a more premium material?

I should point out that if it's the same material as the Nokia N9/Lumia, it isn't really plastic in the traditional sense and does have a premium feel.

This is the only handset recently thats made me consider a switch back to android after (in my opinion, I know others disagree) the rather "meh" SGS2, I think I might agree with fox, aside from generally not being a fan of android I didn't like the plasticy feel of the SGS2.

If this is built the same way as a lumia (currently have a pair of them) it'll feel very premium, just because it's plastic it doesn't have to feel cheap.

In other news, I was in a meeting the other day where a company pretty close to apple was saying their belief was that the SGS3 would come out with the next iPhone for some proper head to head action :)

One X = top of the range, 'halo' device. Huge screen, quad core processor (at least outside of the US)
One XL = think you're getting confused with the Sensation XL which is not a new phone
One S = lower top of the range, less power and smaller screen than the One X but still decent
One V = middle of the range, single core and smallest screen

The One X is plastic, but as others have said if it's like the Lumia 800 it won't feel cheap. The One S is metal body and the One V too by the looks of things.

Indicates there being a "One XL" phone in the range.

Ah, I've seen a major difference:

1.5 GHz, dual core
Total storage:16 GB
RAM:1 GB

So only dual core and 16GB storage rather than 32GB on the One X.
So the XL appears to actually be a "lower spec" handset than the One X - good old HTC and their naming conventions.

The screens that HTC are using now just look brilliant from all the HD video I have seen of the devices.

I think I may seriously prefer them to SAMOLED.
