*** The official HTC One X thread ***

Well they are testing 4G in my area, a friend has a dongle (Lucky git) so it would have some use when they roll it out. It wouldn't be a important factor to me anyway as the phone still has normal Hspda so I could carry on using that. I wanted it for the lower consumption and better cpu but o well :(

1800mah is pretty poor for Quad 40nm also, they have up to 2500mah batterys being released in some phones @ MWC.

I get all excited about this sorta stuff but then I look at my DHD and realize all I ever do is check my emails with it and take the occasional photo....

And its still got the stupid HTC protruding camera nipple on the back.

Its like they design a phone get all the way through to just about to launch ... and ... "crap! Guys we forgot the camera AGAIN! derp derp derp.."

What a pickle. I had my heart set on the Xperia S but am worried it will be a little under powered 12 months down the line. I am seeing mixed responses for Tegra 3 - though is it the type of SoC that will be in a stronger position in 12 months when more multi threaded apps are about.

I don't think you should worry too much about that, but if the camera on the One X is comparable to the one on the Xperia S, the HTC is probably a better bet (I think so at least).

Hang fire a month for the reviews and possible Galaxy S III announcement, you'll probably end up wanting that even more. Samsung rarely disappoint when it comes to specs and general appeal, it's just that their software is odd. :p

I'm on Vodafone at the moment and will probably want to stick - so hopefully they will offer me a good deal.
I'd like however to get my hands on one before purchase. You can read every review under the sun, but until you have one in your hand you can't be 100% sure.

you trolling? the quad core aint slower mate

To save kona the hassle....

Compare a dual core Sandybridge against a quad core Llano, the same applies here.

The S4 snapdragon has fast new architecture (Krait vs cortex A9) and a die shrink (28nm vs 40nm) It's been designed to compete against cortex A15 SoCs we'll see in 2013.
The S4 has a huge advantage in lightly threaded applications and remains competitive in highly threaded ones, like the browser.

This is all at a low clock speeds too, the S4 has been designed to run at 2.5Ghz. People prepared to root will get a massive performance boost.

Add the 28nm modems and you have a killer phone SoC.

If the camera is excellent and the screen doesn't disappoint, this could be an absolutely awesome phone.

Yep, HTC have nailed it. Good screens, great design, lighter skins, fast SoCs. Only the small batteries are disappointing, typical HTC :p

Actually, the big stand out this year has been design (Sony too) God bless the Nokia N9/800/900, no more iPhone 4 clones!

Question is... can Samsung design a great looking phone made from fancy materials? They got the technology, now lets see some class. :)

It's quandary time for me now, I had just decided that the Galaxy Nexus wasn't too big, then the HTC One X comes along and is just about identically sized. I'd prefer the One S for the reasons quoted above but the screen on the One S is smaller and I'm worried I get it and then decide I should have gone for the bigger screen...Don't know what to do!!

I'm in the same quandary, Bigger LCD screen or smaller Amoled, coupled with Tegra or newer SoC and battery life??? ARGH!!!!! what is the best choice? Its such a muddled mix of spec's.
