*** The official HTC One X thread ***

I'm concerned about the lack of access to the battery. A few times I've had a dodgy ROM or something on my HTC and I've had to pull the battery. If it happens on the One X, it's screwed

Well the battery in my Iphone 3G finally packed up so another bad thing about sealed phones. Backwards step in my opinion.

Lucky man..

Is there rooting already?

One thing that concerns me with the One X and rooting is the lack of access to the RAM. What happens he you need to access the memory due to a bad ROM. You just can't slip the card out and do what ever with a card reader.

Yup Paul from Modaco has posted root instructions on XDA and Modaco, just following this now :)

One annoying thing is you get a stupidly short usb cable for charging. My SGS2 came with a power cable and plug this comes with a short usb cable and plug.

Where's the best deal now then?

I'm tempted by the 12 month Vodafone:

600 Mins
Unlimited Texts
1GB Data
2GB BT Openzone
Beats headphones

£41/month
£139 up front

Is that direct with Voda? Not bad..should get £25 quidco too?

Anyone know any better 12 month deals? For S too..

O2 wouldnt budge even though my annual spend is over 1k - disgusting. They wanted £170 for the phone on a 12monther - tempted to buy offline and goto three the one plan?! :)

:D

You know what to do next ;) New Kernel, new rom, new radio etc etc

Let us know the battery life in the next few days.

Yeah will do, I'm a "heavy user" Spotify, Twitter and constantly playing with it, I'll be happy if it lasts me froim 9am to about 5pm

Reviews stating battery life is dreadful :(

It's new kit, very rarely is technology released these days being perfect out of the box. It will improve with software updates etc.

When fully optimised, a desire HD battery can last perhaps 1.5 days with moderate usage.

That's a 1230mAh battery. With this phone having a bigger screen, it's also got a bigger battery (1800mAh). With some tweaking, this phone's battery should end up being decent.

By tweaking, I mean undervolting the cpu, changing the governor profiles, i/o schedulers, brightness settings etc.

Looks a quality deal. I just hate 24month contracts, still got 10 months left on my own deal :(

Yeah, I've got a few months left. Going to sell my HTC Desire HD and use that to buy out/set aside for monthly payments.

Two years lasts longer than you think when you order :D

If you look furthur up, there's a good O2 deal on 18 months I think.

Plus, the One X will still hold its own in a couple of years I'd imagine :D
