I have both
build quality maybe the wrong term i agree, however the side of my SGS2 has scuffed quite a lot and ive never even droped it , the metal where the speaker is has turned to grey (paint come of it), just little things like that.It feels cheap you cant argue that. SGS2 still one of the best phones i ever had though

You can say that with any material. Alu for example. I think it's the unibody that gives it the quality feel. Almost feels like ceramic.

if you go on the HTC watch app they have quite a lot of films for rent for 5p! some decent ones tbh, i wish i had my Medialink to get it on the TV

The home button is also very cheap feeling, I think that's the worse thing about it for me.
I agree - they can definitely improve upon that.

The words you guys are looking for is "perceived quality"
GS 2 might "feel cheap" but I bet you it is a lot more durable than the one X and S for that matter.
It realy isnt, do you want me to upload a pciture of my GS2 like i said above never droped but its scuffed down the sides and the paint for the speaker has peeled off
EditL actually it did have an epic fall once down one side, but my phone is scuffed both sides
butthe part it fell on has taken little chunks from the plastic

Conversely, I have dropped my Desire HD many many times, and the body is a little scuffed on the top but apart from that it's in mint condition

Yes i can agree on that, My old one use to squeak and creak like 150 year old floorboards

I disagree. My desire HD has taken an absolute battering, and still looks like it's in mint condition. Meanwhile, I have friends who have dropped their iPhones and Samsungs just once, and their screens have cracked

That comes entirely down to luck. Nothing else.

Perhaps the screen cracking thing does come down to luck.
But the body of the DHD is solid. Like I said, I've dropped mine countless times and you simply would not be able to tell.
The body is solid, absolutely, it's the tacked on bits of plastic that are awful.

Well you must not have taken that good care of it if it has those marks on it
Also regarding what I said, I mean if you were to drop the mobile on to concrete, which mobile would come out still working in pretty much pristine condition e.g.
I have dropped my spica a number of times on concrete etc. and the back has come off yet mine still looks brand new, no marks at all and screen is still scratch free

Oh yeah, fair enough I completely agree on that.
Thank god HTC has gone to a unibody design, looks awesome.
