*** The official HTC One X thread ***

I doubt it very much. HTC typically release their new flagship models around February to April such as the Desire, Incredible S and now One X, while Samsung do April to June with the SGS series. Apple have been releasing their iPhones around June/July although the 4S was an exception with October, so I doubt their next one will be any earlier.

Basically manufacturers tend to release flagship models on a regular schedule and don't rush out another so soon with a better spec just to beat their competition. Whatever the SGS3 and iPhone 5 will be like, I'm guessing HTC will follow it up next year rather than waste money on an 'interim' handset 6 months down the line.

^ Hopefully rockin the S4 pro @ 2Ghz or maybe the 28nm die shrink tegra 3+.

...and HTC's lineup is more confusing than ever! (to the point where I'm not actually buying one :()

One X/XL
One S
One V

They've simplified it massively?

Ended up walking away with 2 white One X today after popping in a store to see when Mrs Gimp was due to upgrade, and finding my contract up as well as hers!
I'm back using my Sensation already as I've already found a few niggles with Sense 4, and am surprised at how non plussed I am at the changes between the two handsets.
For HTCs new flagship handset, apart from the paper specs and obvious bump in screen estate, it feels a little underwhelming.
If they'd have forgone the inclusion of hardware buttons and implemented a Galaxy Nexus like solution, and included a hardware camera button and an SD slot then I think I'd be a little more impressed, but it feels like they've made some minor improvements at the cost of some fairly useful features that should be there.

Much better overall phone than the Xperia S. Heck I even like the One S more than that. In the end, despite the much larger screen (as I'm used to 3.7"-4.0" handsets), the quad core and display quality won me over.

Will still be using the iPhone 4S though.

You have an Xperia S as well?

HTC quite often change the spec of their flagship model mid-life though, look at the Sensation XE and the SLCD Desire (ok that was more forced on them!). I wouldn't be surprised to see an HTC One 'XE' or something at some point.

As for the S3 well there is a lot of improvement to be had over the One X in my eyes - Removeable battery, SD card storage, more internal storage, bottom USB port, better camera, sound that isn't as awful at low volume as the One X. The One X is a nice phone but once you get past the screen and excellent feel of it I don't think it's that amazing now and I'm a bit disappointed as it could have been fantastic.

For One X owners - looking at some of the pics I see a row of 4-5 pins on one edge at the rear. Is this for some kind of dock?

Am not really sure what people expect now a days, do you want it to teleport you to another location :P , or made from gold, what more can they do apart from make it slimmer put a far better screen on and improve other areas.

What will the GS3 have different over the 2 a bigger screen, better resolution, better build more mp on the camera , that's really all they can do, having owned a few HTC phones from desire /hd/sensation this the best so far for m.

It doesn't feel like a brick and isn't overly heavy its nice and snappy , if you want to taste stock ICS put nova launcher on free from the market but I prefer the HTC widgets they a cut above the rest, great phone so far for me and no annoying niggles, on battery life am over 18 hours and still have 43% left.

+1

Lot of people seem to be complaining about lack of microSD and removable battery.

If HTC included these things, this phone would be a lot bigger and people would just complain about that instead. Looks like you can't please everyone :(

HTC One X ain't perfect that's for sure - the camera is ok - not the best, and the videocamera is downright shocking - so shaky and stuttery - unbelievable.
