*** The official HTC One X thread ***

There should be an OTA update released soon which addresses the majority of issues occurring at the moment.
The main one is finding that HTC have put the power management app in the wrong place hence the screen sapping so much juice! Lol

Yeah, I read about that. Quite the mistake. :p

This is ridiculous. My home screen keeps refreshing it's self. I can barely do anything on it without it seemingly closing and refreshing the homescreen. I suspect that perhaps something is force closing in the background but I've no idea what. Whenever I go into Task Manager it says that over 800MB of the RAM is being used too.

It's rather irritating to say the least.

Yeah I heard about this. Also apparently there's something wrong with the way the companion core works too, using too much power, so should hopefully be fixed soon.

Right guys will thrown my 2cents on this screen issue.

I've had mine since last Thursday all was well no issues, soon after I started noticing a strobing effect on low brightness levels on grey screens, ok so put brightness up and this got rid of it, few days after it started appearing on the highest brightness level. Now appears on all brightness levels.

Strobing effect on grey backgrounds, and when titling the phone I can see like 2 lines about 0.5cm thick very faint running down the screen in the middle or some type of patterns as another user at XDA said.

Also noticeable on the battery graph when viewing your battery stats it's like a constant white pulsing.

So I unlocked bootloader and applied the Chinese 1.2.8 still present, did the nvidia power management fix on 1.2.8 still present, installed ARHD with the power management fix and still present!

Now I don't know what' causing it but it has got worse since day 1 of owning the phone. Doesn't appear anywhere else apart from when using light colored backgrounds or apps.

Hardware fault? Might have a conductor issue or loose connection? Or software fault? No word from HTC apart from replace your unit! Which is exactly what I will be doing tomorrow sending it back to DAP shame as there's nothing else wrong with it! Will see how the replacement is.

it wasnt a new contract it was an upgrade which isnt officially up till 22 april , the problem i have is i have 2 one x here now, one from dial a phone which is perfect, and the tmobile chitter chatter one with bad screen.
I had cancelled the dialaphone one but they sent phone out anyway , and its being returned. Pity i could slip the chitter chatter one into the dial a phone box , but no doubt the serials will have been recorded lol.

thanks i will play that card i got it on release day

Its 7 days from when you get the phone from what i was told by the upgrade guy on the phone when i got mine sorted. Thing is im pretty sure they can tell when you got the phone ie when you signed for it if it was delivered to your house. Obv if you pick it up from the store you get no cooling off period.

Anyhow first thing this morning i managed to pick mine up from my local tmo store. When i told them that im coming in for my upgrade and they saw it on their screens, suffice to say the manager and the other guys jaws just dropped as they could not believe that i literally got a £500 phone for £40 upfront cost and £10pm tariff lol. Manager said i must be one of the luckiest SOB's to get a deal like that from upgrades:p.

Anyhow got the phone home, stuck it on charge for a few hrs then had a play with it. First impressions are that its a lovely handset...my major concern was the size of it but honestly it feels so much better in my hands than my iphone4 does...very comfy and the plastic shell around the phone really doesnt take anything away from it. Its taller than the iphone4 but about the same width really. The screen is superb but i still find the iphone4 screen to be just that little bit more sharper but theres not much in it. Of course this is my opinion but so far so good.

The phone is stupidly quick but am finding the back of it gets a tad warm but nothing to really worry about as my iphone4 does get warm as well when being put through its paces. Imho im pretty damned impressed by the One X, my past experiences with Android havent been all that great and im glad i went for this. Obv this is my first day using it so will see how i go over the next few days. My missus also likes it but finds it too big for her dinkey little hands so looks like my iphone4 will be going to her as shes had her eye on it for a lil while:p....unless i decide that ultimately i dont want the One X, which in that case ill just sell it.

Havent really noticed any issues with it, the screen is lovely to look at...the amount of screen real estate you get is astounding in such a big handset. The only couple of issues i have noticed with the phone is that when i bring up the keyboard, there seems to be some sort of writing at the far left corner, its very tiny but its next to the 'A' button. Also dont know if anyone has noticed but when i play teeter, everytime the ball hits the side...the screen starts to flash and judder a bit so i closed it down and re-started the game and this time i didnt get the slight flashing and juddering.

Like i said im going to give a few days and see if the problem gets worse, if it does then back to the store to get a replacement one.

But all in all i definitely like the phone...battery life doesnt seem to be great but im going to run the battery down then charge it back and see if that helps altho reading the last few pages, it seems like a few people are having the same issue. Have to add i love the face unlock bit of ICS...works very well and also the camera is pretty good both video and still...i like the fact that if you keep the shutter button down, it just keeps taking pics even if the subject is moving around...really like that.

Would i recommend this phone??...yep of course i would especially if you want cutting edge tech in a phone...still cant get over just how light and thin it is.

Glad you like it Spawn, it's a very impressive bit of a kit indeed.

Battery life looks promising so far, and that should be set to improve soon as well.

Without going into specifics, the battery life seems to be about on par with the Galaxy S II, perhaps marginally worse but there or thereabouts.

This is quite interesting (and will no doubt be fixed in a future update):

A developer on xda-developers forums has found out that the poor battery life is due to an issue with the Nvidia Tegra 3 power management controls. The power control app, NvCPLSvc.apk, has been placed in the system/bin folder instead of the system/app folder. All you need to do is move this folder to its rightful location and that should give you about 10-20 percent boost in battery life, according to users.

Really quite worried about my one x now....the graphical issues are getting worse and worse. Also my phone just restarted itself, took 5 mins to boot up and then asked me to send an error report to HTC. :S typical! You guys suggest an exchange?

Yep definitely if its getting worse...would you keep a car that kept breaking down??...of course not so the same applies to a phone.

As i said in my previous post, im keeping an eye on these screen issues...if mine develops one then im taking it back to get it replaced.

I would still advise for video to download the ICS camera from the market, ICS camera+ or something like that, it only records in mono but you can boost the bit rate up to 38114 if you put it on 2x or obviously 19k normal.

The stock one only does around 9k and I have noticed it isn't as jerky when filming and if you tap the screen you can still take pictures while recording, does the job for now.

Yep definitely impressed with what i see so far of the handset. Just loaded up some mp3s and im actually sat here with my jaw on the floor...i wasnt expecting it to be any good as i remember you saying that the iphones tend to be better audio wise when it comes to mp3s but i just stuck a few tracks on and im pretty much blown away....personally i think my mp3s sounds much better on the One X than on the iphone4...tried different equaliser settings and have found the dance one to be the best...the beats audio is interesting but im using a pair of beyerdynamic in ear headphones and they dont sound very good with beats audio...i plugged my stupidly expensive dr beats pro headphones in and again what a difference.

Honestly i didnt think the One X media player would be any good but for me it sounds better than the iphone4...im no audiophile as it is but my mp3s sounds deep and crisp and pretty damn loud:p

So pretty happy so far with the handset, just hope it doesnt develops any faults anytime soon...so far the screen seems to be behaving itself, havent had any juddering or flashing....just a tad disappointed that the batterly life isnt as good as its meant to be. Im down to 32% so far and i havent even put my sim card in it yet:eek:...thats just using the wifi at the moment...according to my power useage stats...screen has been on 47%, cell standby is 32% even though ive turned off the cell functions as i havent put my sim card in it yet...so far 4hrs 12mins on 31 secs on battery...not looking good is it?? but as u pointed out it seems like HTC have put a file in the wrong place...silly fools lol.

Anyhow still a good phone but it wont take me away from Blackberry at the moment...what it will do is probably take me away from the iphone4 though which is no big loss as the audio for me is better on the One X.

What I said was based on what I'd read, I haven't actually tested out the audio yet myself. Sounds good though.
