*** The official HTC One X thread ***

Ok,

Spoke to Orange retentions who weren't able to offer me anything even remotely competitive. Totally different planet from some of the deals out there.

So I requested my PAC code, and will have £39.40 + 1 bill to pay off my existing contract.

New deal:

Affordable mobiles:

Free White One X
£40 off with Quidco
02 on and on tariff (unlimited mins unlimited texts and 1Gb data)
£36 per month (24 months)
13 months half price by redemption

So totals are:

36*24 = £864

- £234 on cashback
- £40 quidco

Total contract price = £590

I'm chuffed with that :)

Don't forget your quidco :)

What are people using rather than the naff ones they came with?

I'm using a pair of beyerdynamic in ear phones that I bought a year ago...I never ever use the earphones that are included with the phone as usually they are rubbish quality and don't really fit well in my ears.

I've just ordered from voda:

600mins
unlimited text
1GB data
2GB Openzone
beats headphones

£139 for the phone and £41/month over 12months

I can't stand the thought of anything longer than a 12 month contract! When the years up, i'll just sell the phone and put it towards a similar deal with whatever the latest device is then.

so you would rather pay double what I am paying each year. When you could easily, if a better phone came out that you wanted, sell the phone and buy a new one.

Your total contact price: £631
My total contact price over 2 years £604.

More money than sense.

Can't believe the prices some of you are paying for a One X. You can get the phone for free with 300 minutes + free internet for £32 a month from three.

£465 for a PAYG model with £15 credit included.

I could sell it at the end of year and recuperate about 40% of the yearly cost, then I'm free to get a new deal.

Sure you could sell yours but you'll be looking at putting in around £200 out of your own pocket to get the latest handset at the time (if it costs ~£450).

I also get 20% off the monthly bill as my work are affiliated with voda, so I'm actually only paying £32.80/month.

So I have decided I want the One X.

Currently paying £15/m sim only with 3 for 750 mins 3000txt 2gb data. From what I can see cheapest sim-free way to get the X is through 02 £10.50/m etc for £390, total cost for 12 months for phone + my sim only deal is £570 ish for 12 months, another £180 for a further year so £750 for 12 months

Anyway see a cheaper deal? Ideally need minimum 600 mins 300 txt 1gb data. Off course 12 month if possible!

I think it will be slightly better overall, but in a general sense, there won't be much in it.

It will almost certainly have a SAMOLED screen and IPS LCD is a lot nicer in my opinion.

One thing that keeps me coming back to HTC is the build quality - they're on point with the materials they use.

Both the S2 and Galaxy Nexus felt cheap imo - hopefully Samsung address this with the S3 but i wouldn't hold your breath.

I really love the feel and design of the One X, history would suggest Samsung won't be able to match them in that respect but you never know, they have to drop the plastic fantastic style at some point. :p

Is it me or is the alert sounds fairly quiet? Didn't always hear my iPhone but I do struggle a bit to here my new HTC

Not sure if there is a fix/mod for this though?

Went for a One X at the weekend. Not as good as some of the deals reported here but I'm happy. £100 handset, 18x£25, 300m, 300txt, 3Gb, unlimited landline.

Arrives tomorrow, can't collect until Saturday! Boo.

edit: T Mobile retentions asked for £200 on the phone, £150 online, Chitter Chatter asked £100 on the phone. I obviously don't overspend much!

Have you got your volume on the notifications set to high or max??...i have and found it a bit too loud but normally i keep all my phones on silent or vibrate...both my iphone4 and BB9900 are on vibrate and silent.

What i find funny is the tiny and i mean tiny little led notification light...cant hardly see the led blinking if it isnt facing you:p.

Actually thats not too bad...works out to £550 over the total of your contract. The phone itself is about £500 sim free.

But not as good as mine, £280 on a tmo £10 pm contract over 24mths, £40 cost for the handset. Granted i only get 100min of call time, unlimited texts and 500mb of internet but suffice to say its a line i wont be using other than for web browsing and playing mp3s.

Yeah, I did look about to see the best combination of handset outright and sim only contract, but I couldn't find a similar tariff to what I was on for about a fiver, which is what I'd need to keep the overall cost the same. Some of the Sim only deals people are getting are pretty nice. Giff Gaff better watch out!
