*** The official HTC One X thread ***

It is more than just the launcher though.

The colour scheme throughout the UI/apps looks like it has been designed by a 8 year old :p

The customized stock apps aren't great IMO (granted they can be easily changed through the market :p)

etc.

I have the below suction arm for my car screen, any ideas if I can get the end bracket to fit the HTC One X and dump the iPhone bracket?

Think its a Brodit arm

Another bad design in my eyes. Admittedly I can use my index finger or my thumb to reach the top button but then that's at a stretch, and then I've got to reshuffle the phone around to get it back into position without it slipping out of my hand.

I mean how difficult would it have been to have a wake up button on one of the sides, It's not exactly gonna sacrifice the aesthetics. If it's balance they were worried about then they could have stuck one on the other side from the volume buttons. A wake up button, doubling up as a camera button and a faux button/cover for the usb connection.

That way there's is very little movement and effort involved in waking up the device and using the interface. The N9 nailed this on the head, double tap the screen and it comes to life.

Well, I just received my HTC One X today and it is fantastic. :D The screen and the feel is just amazing. :)

I have a Google Mail account, do you guys recommend I use the HTC Mail app or Gmail to push my emails through to my phone?

I agree entirely, the power button is far better on the side than the top if there's no hardware home button.

Hmm, just received my Grey HTC X one from Amazon today and so far I'm left feeling slightly underwhelmed. Feels sluggish at times, the interface is definitely not as smooth as my Note was. Also I can appreciate review comments about the shape and feel of the phone, not very ergonomic and has a tendancy to slip out of your grasp.

I'll definitely give it a few days, maybe the phone will grow on me but at present I feel I'll be exercising the return policy at Amazon.

Anyway to wake the device without using the top button?

I got a gel case for mine, makes it a lot nicer to hold without the feeling its going to slip. I think its a standard htc thing to have the power button as the only screen on/off.

this makes the whole argument against TW irrelevant - Samsung bring some good apps and improvements too.

touchwiz is just a launcher really how hard is it to replace it :S

No, it's more than a launcher. Gingerbread TW on the SGS2 was vastly different to Gingerbread on the Nexus S. Personally I found it brought a few improvements, but the design of the whole thing was pretty poor and rather overdone. Thus I don't want to see it on the SGS3.

Irrelevant? Just because Samsung make more detailed adjustments than just the launcher, it doesn't make it any better.

Their app modifications are ugly in a lot of places too. That's not to say it's all bad, but the bad definitely outweighs the good. :(

Don't like a certain app - then change it with one off the market with apps and themes.

It makes no sense to not buy a Samsung phone just because of TW.

Oh yeah there is no doubt that they have done great things under the hood like the super smooth and super quick performance, built in codecs etc. and are better at this than HTC etc.

However, the UI is god awful looking and is no were near the standard of the new sense and most certainly not better than stock ICS IMO.

And it isn't irrelevant, as a lot of people just want to get a mobile that is nice to look at in terms of the UI and plenty of features like sense and stock android out of the box instead of doing what the majority of us here do, use 3rd party apps for everything and customize our home screens to our liking.

A lot of my friends (average joe type of people :p) didn't get the GS 2 purely due to the UI.

The only customized app that I like on the GS 2 stock touchwiz is the calendar.

It is just the UI and colour scheme that needs to be worked on and the placement of a few things.

And you can't change the theme of certain stuff like the notification bar, system menus etc.

That's fair enough, but it's not something people should have to do. Samsung should actually make their designs look a bit more interesting.

The dialer for example... utterly awful. Same for the messaging app.

I actually find myself astounded at how ugly it is.

No, I disagree. User experience is vital and good software makes or breaks a phone, Android or not.

I honestly don't know a big company like Samsung let some maingy monkies let loose on their UI. Esp when stock ICS looks wayy better.

Have you seen their 'Smart Home' presentations? They're really into the Samsung store stuff and want to use it as a central hub for everything on their products.

Logically, just stick stock ICS on there and leave it be, but they want people stuck in their own little 'software experience' and it's really quite horrible. :p

The default wallpaper when you turn on the SGS2 for example... just what!
