***The Official HTC Sensation thread***

I have to say, I really do like the Sensation but for me I think the Galaxy S II is better.

Although the stock browser is really bad, it always bugs about if you use it fast. Poor show :(

I still haven't made my mind up!

Interesting note with regards to build quality -

Due to the design of the phone, the main part of the phone doesn't quite sit perfectly in the casing, which means if you apply a little bit of pressure to the right hand side, it feels a tiny bit loose, which is annoying.

I have made my mind up I prefer the GS2 I think all round its a far better phone so will be sending the Sensation back.

^^ The Galaxy S2 was the winner out of them no surprise there though its the better phone.

A mate came round to have a look at it as he was thinking of getting one as he has a Desire HD and he was disappointed with it in his opinion its not worth £250+ more to buy than his, he thought Sense 3 wasn't worth the extra and wasn't necessary.

He likes sense and HTC and agreed the Galaxy S2 is the far better phone to it.

I don't know about far better, it's slightly faster and smoother in operation and the camera and video recording is quite a lot better, but if you don't use the camera much it's a tough choice.

There isn't that much to choose between the screens unless you're judging based on viewing angles and blacks, which isn't all that important imo.

Hi, without having to trawl through 30 pages, could you tell me on average how long the battery lasts on this phone? I currently have an iPhone 4 - and I have to charge this everyday on light'ish usage. How does the Sensation compare to that of the iPhone 4? I've also heard that this phone can run hot all of a sudden and then crashes - is this true?

Its battery will be worse than the iPhone 4, however if you are only getting one day out of it with light use your battery is probably faulty. That depends on how you define light use though.

Not that I am aware of.

What I don't understand when I look on youtube videos of this phone it looks pretty smooth but mine just isn't, it laggs pretty much all the time specially when going in menus etc.

Robbo, seriously? iPhone 4 was notoriously bad for battery life, what was the attraction for you of getting the Sensation?

LOL the battery on the Iphone 4 was the best I had out of any phone it was phenomenal 2 day was realistic with it with good use.

Do a video with your SGS2 and I'll have a look.

Must be how it looks on videos as it doesn't look to bad on there but I can see it normally.

The iPhone 4 has had nothing but praise for its battery life, with fairly light use mine lasts for 3-4 days at a time...

I like HTC Sense UI and it was fairly cheap, and I wanted to compare it directly with the Galaxy S II. I'm glad I did :)

I'm also a bit annoyed because I can't decide which phone to use now! :o :(

Yeah, there's microstutter when you swipe to a homescreen page with a big widget on (like bookmarks), and there is also a bit of stutter when the app drawer opens, but other than that it seems pretty alright.

The Galaxy S II isn't immune to lag either, it's just not as common. If you do everything on them side by side, you'll see that most things load at the same speed or it's very close.

Wipe the SD card and reset it (from the bootloader menu), and then fiddle with it and see if it improves. That sort of thing can easily be fixed with a custom ROM, Vodafone have probably buggered the code up somewhere :p

Must be my iPhone then. I'm getting bored of my current phone and have never owned an Android phone before, so am seriously tempted by the HTC Sensation... One thing putting me off is the over saturation of colours with the camera and recording...

Are there any real definite-reasons as to why you would either go with the Sensation or the S2??? Or would it just be the choice of screen?

I've seen the Samsung Galaxy S2 in shops and I'm not keen on the looks and the plastic case. Also their grid-like interface resembles that of the iPhone...

Still micro stutters after doing both and it really annoys me tbh it should be smooth no matter, yeah there are roms out that sort this sort of thing but it depends how long it takes HTC to release the update.
For me it should't do this out the box it should be fluid and smooth, it was fair enough when the Hero came out as it was there first ever sense device but there is no excuse for it now.

Just use a custom launcher I can't imagine many people use touchwiz I use laucher pro on mine.

The camera is good, but it gets the colours a bit wrong sometimes, not always though, and it still looks decent enough. The screens are, again, good in different ways depending on what your uses are.

It depends what your priorities are really, can you list what your main uses for a phone are (in order of importance), and I'll tell you what I think :)

Yep, I saw some of the videos and photos from a few review sites, can't complain too much. I do use the camera quite a lot on my iPhone though.

The real motivation to get a new phone is Android, I want to see what it's all about, I've had an iPhone for far too long now and have never really tried anything else. I'll mostly be using it for e-mail, surfing the web during a commute and playing with a lot of the apps from the Android market (as long as there's Tetris - I'm happy). :) I'd also love to see how it fairs with 720p/1080p content.
