***The Official HTC Sensation thread***

Have you tried a different music player, and what software version are you using, I'm KE7 with the CF-Root kernel and got no issues,

There's no need to root really for most things, I did it so I could uninstall some of the stuff pre-loaded onto the phone, wasn't causing me an issue but just didn't see the need to have it.

As for that Sensation deal I'd wait a couple of days, if it is released tomorrow across all networks then you'll be able to buy sim-free properly from a reputable place...

Yeah I tried a few other players, think they worked ok but my point is you shouldn't have to do that on a expensive new phone.

Yeah might give it a few days on the sensation.

My phone says 2.6.35.7-I9100XWKE7

Many things to be honest & I know most of them can be fixed by downloading other apps and tweaking things but they are still annoying.

A few niggles;

• Screen Resolution Poor (wouldn't say it was poor, just not great when compared to the sensation,
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mARt_blZ21g, plus there are more videos out there showing pretty much the same thoughts including expert reviews and the majority of users comments, personally I think all the advantages of SAMOLED+ are far greater and better than having the extra resolution of the sensation, although I do really like how sharp things look on the sensations screen)

• Screen Looks Blue (coming from the GS 2 to the sensation, you may find the screen in terms of colours not to be as good especially when you are looking at the mobile from all angles, plus whites are white and blacks are black, also have you tried changing the display settings in settings>display?)

• Music Stops playing after a few minutes when using a PIN lock (shouldn't happen with any android mobile, try winamp or powerAMP)

• Lag in camera shutter

• Experienced some screen burn after only 2 weeks, has gone now but still worries me. (again surprised at that, but then again at least you could see the screen in sunlight unlike the LCD based screens :p)

• Touch Wiz is rubbish, Using LauncherPro which is ok but its no Sense. (yup it is, try LPP, which has sense like widgets and also give GO launcher a try as well as it is much better IMO)

• No Pin Lock Customization (you won't get that with the sensation either, in the way that you want it to be, iirc you don't even get a choice of pin lock only the pattern lock (someone will need to confirm that about the pin lock though)

• Just generally not enjoying using the phone like I thought I would.

Although from reading your posts it sounds like you would be happier with the HTC sensation due to it being more polished out of the box without really needing to install many third party apps at all.

Strongly recommend you to try one out in a shop before you sell your GS 2 as you may not like the screen as much, the smoothness, camera quality etc. and obviously for other reasons stated many times before :p

Although I have to admit after watching more videos of the sensation, I am quite liking sense V3 a lot now especially the weather part, overall sense V3 looks much more modern/sleek than the previous one, but it just doesn't look as smooth as the GS 2 overall, which lets it down a bit IMO, also starting to prefer the look of it from the front as opposed to the GS 2

I hear your comments and I agree with most of it, but you are right in the fact that I do prefer the polished look to the sensation. I know I can download different music players etc but they just don't make me feel like I have a nice complete device. Its all a bit of this bit of that with the GS2. I am going to try to view one in the shop asap, then hopefully make a decision.

Are all the Sensations boot loaders sorted now or is that still ongoing?

I haven't got mine with me but I'll check for you in a bit if you still aren't sure about the lockscreen.

Edit - It's the same as the Galaxy S II but you have to 'pull' the unlock ring first before it appears.

I'm the guy that made this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yiYkftfWEq0

There is at least 3 more people in Sweden with the same issue like this: http://data.fuskbugg.se/skalman02/4df74a3c83fe9_IMAG0019.jpg

There is also people, like me also, with this problem sometimes (only occurs when much electronic stuff near): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G4q21Udcd5g

All of this did I tell HTC in Sweden. They have put this issue on a higher level than just a support case. They are going to investigate this and they want everyone with camera problems like these ones to contact HTC Support, because they think most of HTC users doesn't contact them.

It will be interesting to see if they find any solution. I think a lens cover would do just perfect in this case.

Thanks fella, bit of a disapointment really. Why is pin lock always an afterthought on these phones. GGrrr

Phoned O2 today they said the phone has a release date of the week of the 20th June and to phone back every day as it will be this week but couldn't give and more info than that. Hope this info is better than the last date I was told ;).

Spoke to Orange today, and they are saying that the Sensation will be out 'early July'. Seems rather annoying that there's not a clear release date - its certainly making the GSII look more tempting....

Don't do it!! If you are used to HTC and Sense, I rekon you will be disapointed with the GS2 like me. JMHO

You can get rid of nearly everything about TouchWiz though, and soon ALL of it when more roms come out. It just takes a bit of doing :p

I still don't know why anyone would take the Sensation over the GS2 you would seriously have to love sense, to many people use touchwiz as a good excuse to not get one but how man use it, we all load a custom launcher on, my Sensation is boxed up ready to go back its not a patch on the GS2.

It's still a decent phone, it's not as good as the Galaxy S II but to be honest most people don't care about the relatively fine details that make the difference.

The Galaxy S II is definitely the one to get, if you like it.
