***The Official HTC Sensation thread***

I think you would be happy with either in that case.

The Sensation UI is a lot nicer out of the box, but you can change what the majority of the Samsung UI looks like, so that shouldn't put you off too much.

I forgot to mention, that I listen to quite a lot of music on my iPhone 4. Actually one of the big reasons of moving to Android is my HATE for iTunes and the inability to share content - with Android devices, is it a drag and drop process for managing media??? Can files be sent over wi-fi/bluetooth to other mobile devices?

How does the sound quality compare to the Sensation? I know the iPod on the iPhone is pretty abysmal compared to some of the old Cowon MP3 players I had.

Sorry for all the questions! :o

Yes, it is drag and drop. You also have a choice of lots of good media players, PlayerPro (my favourite), PowerAMP, WinAMP, etc.

You can send files over wifi and bluetooth to any device that supports receiving them (the iPhone for example will not be able to receive them).

The sound quality is roughly equal, the original Galaxy S had great audio quality with a Wolfson DAC but the Galaxy S II has a slightly inferior one (I think it's Yamaha). Both should be at least equal or better than the iPhone though.

Thanks for the response Robbo, I'm getting more geared up to get one of these now. :D Forgot to ask, have you tested playback of 720p/1080p MKV files on the Sensation? Does it work well, any audio or sync loss? Will it handle Real media aswell?

Media playback is a LOT better on the Galaxy S II. The Sensation doesn't generally handle video files very well at all.

If, for example, I drag and drop a generic .avi file onto the Sensation, it's slightly laggy in the default video player, RockPlayer lags with hardware decoding but is smooth with software decoding. I haven't looked into it properly but it doesn't seem great.

On the other hand, the default Galaxy S II player will eat through everything you throw at it, including streaming 1080p to big TV's, etc.

I'm not sure about RealMedia, but I imagine there will be a way to get it to play .rm files, yes.

*Sidenote, it could be the SD card causing the issue, as I said, I haven't looked into it properly! - Having just tested this, I doubt it. However the video seems to play smoothly now... :o

The Sensation doesn't play MKV's well where as the GS2 does but one thing to remember because of the fat 32 side of the storage on these phones any files over 4gb will need splitting into smaller files, tv shows etc are fine though.

I don't think the GS2 plays DTS sound but I recall reading in the GS2 thread there is a player that lets you now.

That's odd, considering it's dual core, I would've thought it'll be ok. Does that mean I'll find most of my time would be spent converting MKV files to MP4? That's the downside to the Sensation, its internal storage is so unrealistic.

HELP, I made a decision going on Speed, Reviews etc. I bought the Galaxy S2 on contract.

I think I have made the wrong choice, I am just not getting on with it very well. I am not sure how much of it is Samsung's fault or how much of it is Androids fault.

But I am considering buying an unlocked Sensation and Selling the Galaxy S2!

Found a few on auction sites as most places seem to be still awaiting stock.

Does anyone have any tips of the best place to buy sim free?

Can you expand on what you're not getting on with it, if it's Android then spending the money on the Sensation is going to be a waste...

But as yet only Vodafone have the phone for sale and aren't selling it sim-free, it seems it's coming out on other networks shortly, possibly tomorrow, (and hence available at places like p4u/cpw etc sim-free)

Many things to be honest & I know most of them can be fixed by downloading other apps and tweaking things but they are still annoying.

A few niggles;

• Screen Resolution Poor
• Screen Looks Blue
• Music Stops playing after a few minutes when using a PIN lock
• Lag in camera shutter
• Experienced some screen burn after only 2 weeks, has gone now but still worries me.
• Touch Wiz is rubbish, Using LauncherPro which is ok but its no Sense.
• No Pin Lock Customization
• Just generally not enjoying using the phone like I thought I would.

Couple of those are a bit odd, screen burn and also the music stopping, I just sorted out a pin lock and disabled widget locker, started playing some music with the stock app and it's been going over 10 minutes now...

On a more specific note to this thread, I guess Sense might make you a bit happier with the phone but realistically if you're not wanting to install apps and tweak settings is Android right for you?

Yes the music thing is wierd and the only way I could make it work was to turn off the PIN lock and just have the standard wallpaper lock screen.

This is my first android device but I am a long term windows mobile user and am used to the constant tinkering and customizing so android doesn't phase me really but I don't really want to go down the routing option yet.

My last phone was an iPhone 4 and although I like it, it bores me and is one of the main reasons I changed. Also hating apple with a passion helped my decision.

I have found stock on a UK website but stock is shipped from Hong Kong, they say delivery is 2-4 business days. £369 + £12.99 Shipping.

Good Deal? Bad Deal? Worth the risk? hehe

I'd say its not really worth it seeing that you can get new ones off of an auction site for the same price that are UK based.
