**** The Official Huawei Mate 20/Mate 20 Pro Thread ****

@kona786 Thanks mate, nice pics :)

Have you found any bugs yet? Seems there is a notifications bug , it’s hit and miss

Also are you using nova?

I’m finding my notifications bar gets full pretty quick, WiFi calling, reception, WiFi bars, Bluetooth symbol, vibrate symbol, battery and clock. Seems not to show them all.

Guess one limitation to the notch.

Thanks. I've not popped my SIM in just yet, still got some setting up to with apps and passwords.

Yes I'm using Nova, stock launcher was too basic. And yes the notification icons are all over the place. Price of the notch.

Chiming in late, but pre-ordered mine on Wednesday with Three. Arrived at 9am on Friday. Loving it thus far! This is upgrading from the Mate 9 so pretty big leap in performance for me. The camera is barely short of incredible and the battery has been solid.

I got a cheap case off Amazon for £6.99 but think I will order another one soon as the camera cut-out is a bit shoddy, I imagine it was designed before they had official measurements. Does anyone have recommendations for screen protectors? Never really used a curved screen before so unsure how to go about it.

Here's a few test images, mixture and combination of wide angle/night mode/1x shots. Unedited.

I'm going to be a party pooper and say I've just had a pretty bad experience with my Mate 20 Pro at the gym.

Issues -

1) Although headphones paired, Jabra app couldn't see them, so no HRM. I probably just need to follow the correct steps, but I'm sure with others I've got away with just pairing and opening the app (not using the app to pair I mean)
2) After each set I log it, so pull it from my pocket, unlock, press 'Next' and back in my pocket. The FPS is harder to find, infact do we need to wait for the screen to light up to unlock? I actually just let fact detection take over, which is almost instant once the screen has lit up, so not a real problem, just slightly slower. The FPS in the screen is cool and all and great when device is on a table, but was actually a pain today.
3) Even though I set my two tracking apps to not be shut down for battery management, it seemed to close them quite often still. After I've hit 'Next' a timer starts and beeps 40 seconds later for me to start the new set. This pretty much never beeped before I turned off management and still I think missed a few after I set it to not be shut down.

I'm sure I can fix 1. 2 isn't a huge issue, but 3 could be a deal breaker. This was one of my big issues with the Pocophone. It was bad on the Note 9, but once you tell it leave an app alone, it seemed to.

Obviously, I will be using it for at least another 5 or 6 days, so we'll see how it adjusts to my use.

really? they look way over processed and tbh a bit crap to me. but could just be the default settings that's done it

I think the over processing is evident in the last shot especially. I think the Mate 20 Pro hardware is fantastic for the most part, but I've not purchased one because I still think Google's computational photography trumps everything else on the market and that's to be expected (they're a software company in my mind before they're an OEM).

I still think there's some finesse missing. Isn't the standard camera sensor 40MP? Surely that just makes the photodiodes smaller when most people won't be printing out pictures? Or is it 40MP as that sensor helps with the hybrid zoom? I've also read the front facing camera is fixed focus according to the GSM arena review. This might explain The Verge's issue with the front facing camera being soft.

I'm probably going to skip getting a new phone this year as in reality, what does the Pixel 3 offer over my Pixel 2? Yeah it has a nicer design, but what will it offer me that will truly add value? Most of the new camera features are coming to the P2 and it's not like the 835 struggles with most day to day tasks.

Maybe I'm just getting wiser in my old age and realising I'm buying gadgets for the sake of buying a gadget.

How are you doing with Nova? It keeps crashing on my device. I've uninstalled & reinstalled but it runs for awhile & then crashes.

No other Huawei has Pie yet apart from this phone and others have pie beta so it's safe to say pie on this phone is beta. There is an update avail on firmware finder (122) so the ota should be imminent.

I have a Zuk Z2 which barely photographs anything in the dark so in comparison these look epic :p

I'm having problems with the Bluetooth - Devices connect fine but no music is coming through the connected device, it comes through phone speaker. Any ideas
