**** The Official Huawei Mate 20/Mate 20 Pro Thread ****

Sorry, missed that. Is there anyone left with one? :p

Yep. Came back to mine today, having used the Pixel 3 XL for the last 4 or 5 days and am really liking it again. Love how quick face unlock is, love the camera. Actually like the skin, it's very stock like.

I don't like the way it doesn't have the rich notifications in Spotify or YouTube the way it doesn't match the colors or show full screen lockscreen artwork.

No copy and past from recents cards.

Messes with colours on YouTube.

And the aggressive RAM management, though that might be an intrinsic Pie problem.

A little too much sharpening in photos and no auto HDR.

Drop down notifications shade doesn't scale when you adjust DPI, I have everything set to small and the drop down and cards still look huge.

Otherwise In general, I loved the phone specs and build.

No auto HDR?? As in you have to manually turn it on each time or you actually have to do bracketing or whatever the proper term is?

Indeed you have to go to modes setting and select it each and every time. And even then its not a patch on the Pixels HDR.

Seems like an ace phone so far.

Taking a little to get used to coming from my nicely tweaked ZUK Z2, but I'm getting there.

Any other launchers worth trying? Going to try edge gestures app for some more shortcuts.

Not a fan of the generic notifications and lack of task bar swipe up from the bottom. Time to play some more.

Not bad at all for £49.

I do need the 100gb as we do not have reliable Internet mainly it's 0.5mb land-line speed.
So the 100gb of data with unlimited mins and texts is my main account with. Sharer sims.for the kids think I save in the long run over all.

Just not sure if the note series of phones have ruined my smartphone options....
I prefer emui over Samsung experience as it seems more stock android, plus half the time I do not know what the Samsung phone is doing in the background.

One big gripe I have with this phone is the music streaming quality as why would you forgo the 3.5mm jack port and then not allow dolby atmos to work with bluetooth crazy.
Samsungs sound quality is vastly better at the moment.

Thank you... I honestly didn't think for a second it wouldn't have auto hdr. That's pretty rubbish - can't believe none (at least the ones I've seen) of these YouTube reviewers mention that as a con?

I did see it on at leat one review but like all phones, none are perfect. Crazy that there is no auto HDR, but I think it applies some of it when you choose 10MP output from the 40MP main sensor. It's just not that great.

We seem to always be juggling between features. Pick your poison and deal with its imperfections is all we can do.

Does anyone know if the Samsung gear watches will work with the mate 20 pro fully. I've tried to put Samsung health on but heart rate reading option seems to have disappeared. Unfortunately I ordered a day late for the free watch.

You need to install he galaxy wearables app which will install all the plugins and services you need to use the watch. I use a Gear S3 with my OnePlus 6T and have no issues.

Ah good will try that.
Think I'm going to stay with the mate 20 pro. It's the fact I don't need to charge it within 24 hours with all the hi spec options turned on. Where are the note even with the brightness and screen res turned down I would have to recharge twice a day at least.
Buying a phone for nearly £900 then turning all the options off is insane to me.

It's not in my settings? There's an auto AI, which selects better modes. If I take a picture in low light, it asks me to steady while it improves the picture. For me, the camera is amazing.

Has anyone bothered with dual SIM 4g?
Just noticed this phone can use both at once, and three does a second contract silly cheap.
As for updates, throw in a Voda sim as 122 has a bunch of necessary camera updates.

I know, but Vodafone seems to get them faster, don't bother asking about Three.

Anyhoo got the second sim in, so I'll be giving dual sim 4g a go tomorrow.

Where you have night mode and normal and video etc, scroll to the end and you have the other modes like document, HDR and other things I can't remember.

Oh yes, sorry, it was the talk of it being in settings that threw me.

Yes, it should be auto, but tbh HDR was only really intended for those shots with drastically varying levels of brightness I believe. The camera on this is so good, it's not something I've gone looking for.
