*** The Official iPad (Early 2012) Thread ***

I ran the battery down to 0 yesterday to test the recharge time. I put it on charge as I went to bed at 2300 and took it off charge at 0900 this morning when I woke up. It was 100%

Anywhere between 1 second and 10 hours.

Is it taken as seriously as it is with Android?

It takes like two minutes to do it, very very easy.

I can't live without my JB iPhone, the Cydia apps are amazing, if you have a gripe with something on the phone/iPad there will usually be a Cydia app that can sort it. Just silly things like, hide the search function by scrolling left, hiding apps, get rid of newsstand, better notifications, gestures to clear multi-tasked apps, different themes, this is just off the top of my head and these are very basic tweeks.

Yes very simple.

I don't think it's as useful on the iPad as it is on the phone. I think on my iPad I had things such as folderenchancer so theres no limit on the amount of apps in a folder. Some password protection app so I could lock down my photos. Sbsettings, so I can toggle Wi-fi quickly and brightness. Probably a bunch of small things as well such as the newstand..

Why does removing spotlight speed things up :s? I've heard things about that in the past, never quite understood it though.

Last time I tried jailbreak was with my iPhone 4 about a year ago. My experience was that Cydia was the most godawful software I'd ever used. It also made my phone much less stable.

The extra apps were nice, but eventually, because of the above, I reverted back to stock. After that my phone was never the same. Every iOS update bricked my phone and I ended up having to restore.

Android rooting and custom ROMs I found to be a million times better. Of course this is my personal experience. Everyone is different. But I'll be leaving my new iPad as is I think.

Edit: Meant to ask... has Cydia improved since my experience of it?

Something to keep in mind if you intend to "Bring your own" and use your personal device for work use is that some solutions will check to see if the device is jailbroken/rooted and if so prevent them being used (e.g., Good Technology).

Additionally, my employer's policy specifically mentions that jailbroken or rooted devices should not be used to connect to any corporate services (specifically mentions Exchange for email) - also something to consider.

Sod having any of my equipment having anything to do with my job on them. It's bad enough they make me go there everyday and do things let alone I should have any evidence of a job at home!

The display could be considered to have a slightly warm tone to it but this is by no means yellow tint. Infact half the time when holding this up to my U2711 I often think the colours look nicer due to this tone.

My first 'flash' incident just happened, I was wondering when this would strike... Tried to watch a game trailer on steam website, being told to use to another device!

Yes the whole Flash thing does annoy me considering my phone can play Flash fine and it's not as powerful as the iPad.
